Being green might be easier than you think. Rocky Mountain Power, architectural firms, homebuilders, the Salt Lake City mayor's office and the nonprofit Utah Clean Energy all have ideas about how to cut energy consumption in homes and commercial buildings.

2 You obviously have nothing to contribute to the conversation. Shouldn't you be getting back to the NASCAR forums? This is after all the "Global Warming News" page. Like any social movement... it starts with individual actions. I think energy efficiency is a good place for efforts and resources earmarked for the reduction of GHGs. |

1 Yes we and others on this fragile planet are pulling all of the energy out of it and upsetting the natual balance. We must believe what the scientists are saying and all work together to help save the planet. If we would all just live with less, all would be good and our children would have a future. Chemicals are now in every drop of water found on earth and China is so polluted it can't be seen from space anymore. Al Gore is a hero. George Bush is not. I fear it is too late anyways as oil reserves are all but gone now. |

1 I think there's oil still out there, it's just harder to get to (oil sands, shale) and it will require more energy to extract the remaining reserves. There's also a huge environmental cost attached to continued resource exploration. I believe in the triple bottom line (economic, social, and environmental cost accounting) and fossil fuels just don't add up. There's hope... Cuba is an excellent example of a county experiencing peak oil and surviving. |

1 Fist let me welcome you to the forum since you must be new here. Otherwise you would of known that I have been posting on global warming section for a while now. Also while I am not a sports fan there is nothing wrong with NASCAR. After all some of the same claims that could be made about NASCAR could also be made about football, basketball, baseball, and hockey. The only difference with NASCAR is that there are more female fans. The last point is that what should be a scientific debate has now turned into a socalist argument. Global warming is something that has happened in the past and will happen in the future. The individuals who are runnning around doing some little things like driving Prius and using CFL's have no real understanding of what they are doing to the enviroment other wise they would realize that things like CFL's have mercury which end up in the water supply since many do not end up properly recycled or the Prius has batteries that will have to be handled later with the resulting contamination from those as well. Once more I would like to welcome you to this section. I sure a few like Bill and Coolmind would welcome your arrival. |

Why unplug the toaster. As long as it is not running the average toaster sitting on the counter isn't using any power. Most clock are now battery powered and either way if a clock isn't keeping time is a completely useless device. If your worried about something like that then try something mechanical like a wind up alarm clock or a kook koo clock. |
