Is Canyon View Estates safe near Nadal and Camp Plenty? There are about 450 homes in a small area. Last I heard it was on the hill below Ermine which apparently burned significantly yesterday. Looking to see if it continued to burn through the night.

I have lots to donate and live about 30 minutes away if anyone hears of a collective donation spot when things settle down. My heart goes out to everyone.

My daughter and her husband live right off of Magic Mtn. pkwy and had to evacuate yesterday because of the Magic fire that started, and their friends that live off of Via Princessa and David had to evacuate also. If you go here, they list the road closures:

I used to live on Nicholas Circle (now in TX)...so I was very concerned about the area, too. A person named Sarah in this forum has replied that the fires are smoldering in that area, but residents are taking extreme precautions by watching for hotspots and hosing everything down. According to her, there were no structures lost on Nicholas Circle. The wind has lessened quite a bit, so hopefully firefighters will be able to make some headway on the fires. Homes were lost on Camp Plenty...which is closer to Steinway (not too far from where Whites Cyn turns into Plum Cyn).

I used to live in Canyon Country, in the mobile home park on Sand Canyon (30,000 Sand Canyon) by Sierra Hwy. I cannot remember the name of the park though - hope it's still okay.

All the way in NY now, but we are thinking of you all. My sister is in Rosamond and my niece says things are ok, but the smoke is getting there (just north of Palmdale/Lancaster).

my parents are on vacation as well -- any news on the american beauty meadows subdivision -- the subdivision is off of the sand canyon exit on the 14 fwy, east, on soledad canyon. entrance to the subdivision is oak springs road. i just heard there might be a fire on the corner of sand canyon and soledad canyon.

If anyone has info on the houses off of nadal street please post. I recently moved to Florida and have no info here. My poor parents, I feel bad because I can not be there for them.
There were a couple of houses that burned on Camp Plenty Road off of Nadal Street. I think there may have been 6 total. All but one burned to the ground.

Nothing burned in Canyon View Estates. The hill above it burned, but the houses were untouched. As for donations...I heard that there will be a community meeting at Cedarcreek Elementary school to get ideas on how to do a community fundraiser for all the families that lost their homes.

You have probably found out that the Canyon View Estates are fine. They let people back in yesterday.

I have friends that live on Goodvale Rd on the hill off of Camp PLenty, another in that same area on Fairweather St (just off Whites Canyon), and another in Sand Canyon Ranch Apartments. I have not been able to reach any of them by phone or email since yesterday early afternoon. Can anyone tell me the status of those areas?
Its absolutely rediculous how little media coverage there is on this area
I live on Fairweather and the fires didn't come down that far. There was one house on Rosamond that burned to the ground and 5 or 6 that burned on Camp Plenty.

Has anyone heard anything about the fires surrounding Northridge...Stevenson Ranch, Santa Clarita and Topanga? The news stations keep focusing on Malibu and there haven't been any updates. Also, do you know any links to sites with pictures.

The snake swallows its own tail.

Tonight as I watched a view from space of the California wildfires, and then as the next item came on the news-the launch of the Shuttle, Discover, I was amazed at the thoughts that came to me.

The shuttle put the camera that took those pictures into space, and is the most sophisticated internal combustion machine devised by the most addict to fossil fuels nation of car driving monkeys ever, all the while claiming that they are the children of God doing his work.

In their arrogance, these believers-in-marketing, all of them wild primates on wheels, fail to see the results of all this devotion to rocketry, gasoline, asphalt and Fords.

The connection is primal and was easy for me to see in the fire and smoke of Discovery’s exhaust as it rose from the eastern part of the land, and then came the view from space as the climate changed overpopulated landscapes of California burn in the west.

The snake is consumed by itself.

It doesn’t understand the nature of its own demise.

Canada is a similar viper with no lofty platform to gloat from.
