They say their house is fine but that they can see the fire off in the distance. The fire is West / Northwest of them and moving a different direction.

What's up with the Houston TV news channels? Half of Southern California is on fire and they devote 1 or 2 minutes of the nightly news to it? We watched HOURS of coverage on Katrina...and really felt terrible for the people when I lived in Santa Clarita, CA. SO CAL fire is also a tragedy of epic proportions. There just might be some of us that would like more in-depth coverage.

There are more homes and the fire is 10 times the size in Canyon Country. Tell me about it...I used to live in Santa Clarita...guess they just don't have as many movie stars in SCV.I'm trying to find out about Plum Canyon...last I heard (about 3 hours ago), there was a mandatory evac.

Sarah wrote: <quoted text> from what I know the fire back there is smoldering....many people are on the hills putting out the hot spots. When I talked to my mom she said they are out of harms way of the flames but are still taking precautions because of the embers...there weren't any homes lost I know many people stayed and used their hoses and the fires came closer. Whoa...way to close for comfort...but I'm relieved to know the houses are still there. Thanks...you've been so sweet and responsive!

I have friends that live on Goodvale Rd on the hill off of Camp PLenty, another in that same area on Fairweather St (just off Whites Canyon), and another in Sand Canyon Ranch Apartments. I have not been able to reach any of them by phone or email since yesterday early afternoon. Can anyone tell me the status of those areas?
Its absolutely rediculous how little media coverage there is on this area
