Whenever I tell somebody who lives outside of ELP where I grew up I always get two comments:

1. "I scored the best MOTA I've ever had in ELP"
2. "Oh man I got laid at that Strip club on Montana AVE for $300.00...you bet I will go back there again just for that!!!"

Not a very nice thing to say about El Chuco is it? I say restrict the heck out of them to the point they gotta keep on moving east and into New Mexico....outta sight outta mind.

Hmmmm I've been around the world (thanks army!) and of all the people I have come across that are either from here or have spent a good amount of time in the city, none have told me anything like that. Aside from the heat and terrible driving people seem to really enjoy it here. Now as for the strip clubs and adult bookstores...the public's opinion will be voiced soon enough. I personally do not go to those places...just not my cup of tea but if really is that much of a bother a bit more restrictions couldnt hurt....unless of course that is how you're making your living....right?

Oh dont get me wrong. I wanna go back. I am trying to get back to ELP. I just hate that my kids would have to see that kind of establishment on their way to school.

I used to live in the Chelmont area. Every day walking home from school (back then it was safe to do that) we would pass the Eros, Venus, and that strip club(I forget the name) on Montana. We would stand out there and try to get a peek whenever somebody would come in or out. Or we used to go back in the alley and scrounge around for thrown away porn mags. The things we found opened doorways to things pre-teens should not be thinking of so early in life. Get it?

Wow, smooth, sounds like your hanging around the wrong kind of people if that is what everyone YOU meet says.

Just because Alkalinetreeo says that is not what he/she has encountered does not mean anything. Just one point of view.

I've always heard stories about getting some "action" in strip clubs. Never experienced it or had friends experience it.

I think it's just macho stories.

It's just like TV. If you don't like what is on, change the channel or turn it off. If you don't like strip clubs and porn stores, then don't go in them. I think I'll go park there just to see my truck on their website.

It sounds like you lacked parental supervision and direction as a child.

Just because you say you encountered those things doesn't mean anything either. Remember it's just your opinion.

Of course I did...but I still went to college and got a degree from UTEP. I have a good life, a good job, a beautiful wife, 3 absolutely wonderful children.

You need to get out and live somewhere else and see ELP from a different perspective. Gotta see beyond the city limits. Out here there are alot people who tell me over and over about the seedy side of ELP. Its not my opinion only....its an opinion of alot of people.

I love ELP and I am gonna go back soon. Just dont want that crap around my kids.

How quick you are to assume so much about me from one post. My point is that its quite critical to attack someone elses opinion but never take the time to analyze your own. The people you meet might just be a minority and the problem is that you are attempting to make that a generalization. Remember that the people you meet are individuals not a representive sample of El Paso.

If you want to guard your children then raise them with morals and values, but remember eventually they will have to grow up and make decisions for themselves.

If it's how you finish then why worry about what we expose our children to?

Your turning this into a circular argument with no end. I just dont want them to see this crap like I did. I had to overcome alot of issues that were born from porn and strip clubs. Alot of wasted time and energy I dont want my boys to go through.

I will control what my two boys and girl see until I cant anymore. It does not help when there is a strip club or a video store in every corner.

But like the Word of God says....teach them (the children) well and when they grow up they will remember those teachings and they will not depart from it when they get older.
