Perhaps Flo would like to show her "good faith" by allowing the Avon Senior Center (Taj Mahal of Avon) to be used for a teen center part of the time? It is certainly underutilzed and an extravagance - given the current budget concerns.

The Avon Taxpayers Association (AKA Avon AARP) is short-sighted in not recognizing that investment in schools pays off mightiliy in increasing property values and fosters good, well educated future citizens of our Avon.

As the article points out, Avon already has one of the lowest tax rates in the valley. If these gray-haireds really don't want to pay their share, perhaps they should sell their equity-fat Avon property and move near the prisons in Somers. I hear the tax rate is really low there.

Lastly, has anyone ever checked the property values of some of the more outspoken members of the Avon Taxpayers Association (a realy misnomer since they don't represent the majority of taxpayers - just those who have all day to get out the vote). These people are not living in homes as the low end of the market by any means!!

What is apparent to me is that the Avon Taxpayers Association was a heck of a lot more motivated than the Parents Associations at the schools in getting their constituents out to vote. The vast majority of wealthy residents living on Northgate, Deercliff and other luxury neighborhoods never bother to come out to vote in local elections and referendums. Flo and her allies come out to vote in All elections! Good for them!
