Everybody with two quarters to rub together should check their credit reports at least once a year. You might be suprised what you discover including accounts you didn't know you had, attempts to open accounts you didn't do and alternate addresses you never had. All indicators of fraud. A few years ago Prop 187 tried to deal with the problems of fake IDs for fraud and impersonation but nobody really understood the motive, including the courts. The broad brush condemnation for the uneducated was to call it racist and urge to overturn it. Fake IDs can never be used to do anything legal. Posession is usually to cover up identification before doing some sort of criminal action.
These crooks dont stop at one victim, they usually have several ready for the big rip off. They dont use the stolen cash for education, child support or life improvement, it all goes to drugs, booze, cigarettes and par-tay time.

sign up for life lock and keep and eye on ur credit report people!! not that hard to do. all the junk mail you get shred it or burn it. dont give out ur personal info and just use your brain.
