I used to go to Cupid's in the early 70's when I went to college. I still stop in whenever I return to LA to visit. I live in Oregon and they had a stand in Bend but it is gone now :( THey have a great business model. One hot dog, one chili and great taste. Continued success to the Walsh family.

I'd love to see twins Linda Johnson and Diane Leonard covered with chili. Not too tender, but still yummy!

Always preferred Cupid's over Pinks. Now that I'm out of the area I'll miss them.

Happy to hear they are keeping the business in the family!

Cupid's is definitely not the same dog it used to be. You can tell by the amount of people there during anytime of the given day...0. Dunno about the simi valley or northridge one, but the one on winnetka is to close to other places I'd rather eat. Daglass, Brooklyn pizza on tampa and the best damn hot dog in LA @ fab hot dogs on tampa as well. The only thing I get from cupid's is nostalgia.

What a delightful and positive article! Our world needs more of them to remind us of family-owned businesses that work hard, keep a quality product, and cater to the on-growing generations of clientele. Forty-seven years ago, I filled in from time-to-time working weekends at the Cupid's Hot Dog Stands for Dick and Bernie Walsh, while teaching full-time at Mulholland Junior High School. Twenty-seven years ago, both of my sons, Ed and Matt, worked the Northridge stand. I still 'relish' a Cupid's with chili and mustard today after all of these years. Congratulations and continued success to Kelly & Morgan Walsh!
Thank you, Gregory J. Wilcox and the Los Angeles Daily News for this well-written and deeply appreciated piece of business news. |
