The more places that are allowed to sell will drive the price down and take away the incentive to sell it on the streets.

Hipocryts are all over the state gov. They must be getting money from the pharmacutical companies to stop this. In the meantime I am sure they are working on new drugs to replace Marijuana i guess we should be bribing the polititions instead of following the laws.

A few months ago I talked to a buddy of mine from high school (Hawthorne). After catching up for a few minutes he asked if I "smoked, yet" I declined as I always had, even in high school. He said it was some of the best stuff he had ever smoked. He proceeded to tell me he met someone in his "smoking circle" who recruited him to go a docotor and illegaly obtain the right paperwork to buy medical marijuana. He says more than half of the people he knows that smoke buy medical marijuana and that no one "needs" it, all with a sinister laugh. I wasn't surpised at all. It was only a matter of time before this law was going to be abused. Yeah, my story is anecdotal but it really makes me wonder how many people are abusing the law across the whole state. Shut them all down and dispense this stuff through hospitals, not hole in the wall storefronts with little accountabilitiy.

Don't they have any free medical doctors who will just give me some so I don't have to go through all this BS about having a pain over here or one over there. I AM A PAIN make me feel better PLEEEEEASE
I sure hope they don't put a TAX on it.

I am fortunate not to have a medical condition that requires MM, but I want the option open if I need it. This is a boldface attempt to stop natural medicines, likely backed by big pharma.

Nobody is worried when a CVS, Walgreens and a chain market pharmacy selling their nostrums on a single intersection. How about 4 shoe stores in a block, tempting women to part with the money that should be going to thier children and family on crummy, foreign made foot adornments. No complaints there, but this needs government intervention???
Worry about the budget and drop this stupid prosecution of natural medicines.
Or maybe we should go back to throwing pot users in overcrowded jails to let more actual criminals back on the street? Get real people! Quit it, its embarassing.

How does one get a license to grow the stuff? Maybe it could be a profit to grow it along side the garden variety tomatoes and sell at the local Farmers Market.....

A "crackdown" in the middle of the worst economic depression - possibly in American history. The politicians in charge of this are obviously getting bribes from Big Pharma or the alcohol industry.

Folks, its A PLANT! A PLANT! A PLANT!!!! How can NATURE be "illegal"?! Making NATURE illegal is a little - I don't know - UNnatural. Marijuana should be completely legalized and regulated and even taxed, maybe.

There is no "War on Drugs" if the CIA itself has been caught shipping drugs INTO the U.S. on more than one occasion. Yet the United States has more people in jail or federal prison than any other nation in the world!!!

Wake up!! YOU are next!

"What was designed as a compassionate use act has been turned into a cash cow," Dennis Zine said. "The law has been abused by the greed of people there to make a quick buck."

The most annoying thing about these new pot shops is that whoever starts going to there all of a sudden become pot experts. The ones who know every name/type of strain...or should I say the ones who think they know. Please STFU.

F.Y.I. - the other day I stopped at 3 dispensaries - NONE would let anyone go to the back without a letter from a doctor, which then they would make a telephone verification.

The woman 2 doors up from me was still smoking tobacco cigarettes, having lung cancer (wonder WHAT caused that??!!), to the week of her death.

Friend from high school drank vodka on the rocks.
His liver went out. He continued to drink. Died at age 45.

By-the-way, I don't smoke. If someone else chooses to, that is their business.

I worked for a catering company for a number of years. I worked many parties of names we all are familar with ("celeberties")... I am not going "to out" anyone here by listing names, but many would be surprised on who does smoke marijuana.

Who knew so many young people had breast cancer and needed their daily tokes for the sheer pain of it?? For years, we had thought these people smoked pot because they were lazy losers who refused to grow up and take responsibility for themselves.

And we should be thankful that Eric Holder is no longer raiding the pot clinics and is instead investigating the real criminals in the CIA. He should crack down on the tobacco companies too since smoking is bad for your health!

Now if we can just get the public option in place. Obama can then provide us all with free pot and our suffering will finallly end. Free at last, god almightly, free at last.

But its ok to have a HAPPY ENDING shop on every block right? Now that is illegal! There are more massage places then there are dispensaries. What are the politicians going to do about that??? Not a damn thing I bet... the world is going to end soon anyway let people live their lives while they can.

Someone give me ONE reason that any adult of sound mind over the age of 21 should not be allowed to smoke pot openly and without penalty - during their time off work, of course.

No one can truthfully challenge this.

Because the old guard cry for personal liberty, but love to deny it to anyone who's lifestyle they don't like. Criminalize the behavior - if someone stoned or drunk crashes a car, screws up on the job or is abusive to others - but not the use.
