Nice to see someone putting cash into the beach amusement park. But how about FIXING those Skeeball and 3-in-a-line machines. Some haven't worked properly for years!
Seriously, I used to come out to Sylvan to eat and play arcade games (the old style ones). But when half the machines are broken..........come on!

Thanks Mike for your encouragement. We have lots of priorities at Historic Sylvan Beach Amusement Park. And I here you loud and clear on the retro games. We will do our best to work in some skee-ball repairs. On a good note we have added 15 new arcade games over the last two years and this years, and this year we have added 5 more new games for a total of 20 so far. We also added a retro miniature golf course two years ago and the G-FORCE ROTOR RIDE last year, and this year were making room for the SUPPER HIMALAYA RIDE as well as the 50' foot SYLVAN BEACH SCREAMER SPEEDBOAT THRILL RIDE! we have also repainted six of our buildings so far. Theirs more work to be done so stay positive and tuned for future announcements thanks D.W.

Doug, thanks for answering my question---but you didn't really answer my question!
Is it extremely difficult or expensive to fix SkeeBall & 3-in-a-line machines?? It seems like some machines just need some new bulbs.

It's great you're adding new amusements, but us old-timers prefer the OLD ONES.

I would think those 2 games bring in a LOT of profit. I know I would play a lot more if the machines worked properly. It's very annoying, and it gives the whole park a 2nd class feeling.

It is difficult AND expensive to repair them. Parts are hard to find and so are the people who now to fix them. On one hand we would like to have all new more reliable equipment but on the other hand we don't want to lose the whole retro flavor the park has. But don't give up we sure aren't we have a few leads on parts and old school repair people. Most of those old games work fine so for now enjoy them. All in good time my friend. Thank you again for your continued support. P.S. As for as making money the park has operated at a loss for years. We are a third of the way in to our five year turn around plan with lots more work ahead of us but I'm having a lot of fun in the turnaround, I hope our customers will help us in the process buy visiting us frequently we need your financial support please be patient and sit back and enjoy the ride so to speak.

Mr. Waterbury, I have followed your "5-Year plan from the beginning and your are correct...this is year 3.
You were quoted as saying on virtually every local TV news channel and in all of the local papers, "I am going to put $8 million dollars into the Sylvan Beach Amusement Park over 5 years". Well, it's year 3...have you infused $4.8 million yet? I don't think so. In fact, If I had to guess, you probably haven't even spent $100K. You are a fool and con-artist.
Sylvan Beach has seen many like you over the years and will see many more come and go. Nice try with the "smoke and mirrors". There's an old saying Doug, "Put up, or shut up."

I'm there with you on that on, Tool! I saw the assembly process on a daily basis, its hard to believe that the rust covered mechanics under the ride would pass inspection, much less the overall shabby appearance of the ride. It, along with several other rides are far from enhancing the appearance of Sylvan Beach. The torn canvas is one of the 1st things you see when you come over the bridge into town.... NOT a great 1s impression.

What if, they painted the back in some type of design or even "welcome". How would it look then? I am starting to wonder about this new guy, is he running some kind of scam? Does he have people investing in this stuff? What is the deal?

ANYTHING would be better than it is! The Village Board (and a lot of other people) are watching him closely. They are hoping that the job isn't ccompleted yet and hopefully will be acting if things don't become more appealing in that area. The amusement park does bring a lot of people to the village, but it is becoming a bit of a joke. They said they were going to invest a lot of money in rides and improvements and all I see are somebody else's junk in the village's yard. We can only home it improves with time, GREAT suggestion tho!

Mike I'm not missing I'm just extremely busy the last couple of weeks with Santa's Workshop at North Pole N.Y. opening the 27th and the Sterling Renaissance Festival on July 4th. Also ironing out last minute details for the Sylvan Beach Screamer Speed Boat Launch for July 4th. I will provide information in smaller doses as this forum won't allow a long response . I think you will be surprised at how much we have accomplished over the last two years. Theirs still lots of work to do but it sure is fun turning around this old antique park.
