When I was growing up in Cleveland it was called trick or treat night and it was ALWAYS on October 31st. No matter what. Columbus is just plain messed up!!!!!!!!!!

What conceivable purpose there is in not having beggar's night on Halloween is a mystery to me.

THIS IS THE MOST STUPID THING I HAVE EVER HEARD OF!!! Waht idiot thought of doing this??? Seriously, are you really going to want to take your kids out Trick-or-Treating, tell them they can't have any candy, and then bring them home and put them to bed because THEY HAVE SCHOOL THE NEXT DAY???? Why not leave it set on Saturday 10-31, like it has been in the past??? Is the Mayor Stupid? Some of our Elementary School age kids, like mine, don't get off the bus until 5:20, I guess we're going to have to go explain ourselves to the Principal when we pick them up from school at Dismaissal. Thanks again for failing, Mr. Coleman. We can ALWAYS count on you!!!!

Dear above parents: Halloween can not be held on Oct.31 because this could interfer with Saturdays O.S.U. football game. Oh my Gawd ! Having a childs event such as Halloween, would disrupt the adult childs football game schedule and post game activity. Betcha never thought of that. And which is the most important to a lot of adults? Halloween? NOT.(this also holds true on Fridays, so Highschool football is not disrupted.

How many times are they going to keep saying this event is on Halloween just to change it on a whim? Get a grip people!

ARGH! My child's birthday is 10/31 and can't they keep this straight? I don't give a flip about high school football or the buckeyes game and I doubt many 3-10 year olds who go trick or treating do. I do care that the next day is a WORK DAY and SCHOOL DAY and so this seriously fouls things up!

Must not have anything already written into the city charter and by-laws to guide them. At this rate it will be January 2010 before Beggars Night happens in the Burg. Do they like the feeling of that top fence board between their butt cheeks? It's Thursday, October 29th from 6-8p. It's been on the Reynoldsburg city website for at least a month.

What is the infatuation with celebrating holidays not on holidays in this nation? Why can't Halloween be on Halloween and fireworks be on the 4th of July?

To all the people complaining about school and work the next day...What would u do if it was a year that the 31st fell on a school night? I know you would complain about them doing it on Halloween and you would want them to do it sooner! People need to get a grip and realize that everything doesnt alwasy revolve around them. Or like I tell my 3 year old...you can't alwasy get what you want!

People please does it really matter what day? Put your children 1st and stop and think it might be a lot safer then on a Saturday when people have had all day to drink and then drive while all the children are out. Our children are grown but we have 5 granddaughters that we want to keep safe so who cares what day just go out and enjoy your children before they grow up. Thank You!!

Some of us are'nt retired or have the leasure to leave work early or miss a class because the city decides to change their mind and have trick or treat on a day different than the actual holiday. Consistency is all we're asking for! I will now have to find someone else to take my daughter because I will not be able to. It's very frustrating for some of us who will not be able to enjoy watching our children trick or treat because we can't miss work or school. That's why it matters what day it's on. When you plan on something being on the actual holiday(although I guess in Columbus that never happens) it's disappointing to find out it's not for whatever reason they make up! And you can't tell me that nobody leaves there house on Saturday because they fear "people drink all day and then drive." Maybe if we valued our kids and let them have a normal chilhood instead of scheduling everything around Ohio State's football schedule we might have a little bit of a better city.

Last year they finally decided EVERYONE would have it the same night..... you got it right Halloween! Now they change the crap again. Gee sounds like the same way Clownman and the City run everything!!!

Why do they do this??? Mon-Fri workers probably enjoy having it on the weekend so they don't have to rush home from work and those who normally work weekends already requested time off to take their kids on HALLOWEEN, OCT. 31. "Because it's a weekend" is the worst excuse I ever heard for changing the date of an occasion..it's not like it's a federal holiday! Silliness. Halloween should be Halloween, period. Why doesn't MORPC change the date of Christmas, New Year's, etc while they are at it.
