Everyone in Campti isn't lazy or waiting on a check. Ya'll have Campti looking terrible, I know a young man from there and if he doesn't tell you he's from Campti you'll never know. The education he has, the money he makes, and his personality says something for more than what some people say about Campti. If more people in Campti took after him it would be a more prosperous town. He is a true go-getter.

The Sheriffs department in natchitoches,Louisiana is one of the most corrupt in the nation. Also the judicial systen there is a joke.Just look at how many judges and deputies have been fired for drugs and so many other crimes. The people they do arrest for drugs are out the next day and the drugs are never heard of again,so where do you think they go?Yes right back on the street.

your so right heck the sheriffs son is one of the biggest drug dealers in nat.i hear.then you have hall who can be paid off in a heart beat.but there are those who say he goes to church he's a good man,yea right deal with him,and either there was a techinically he dident catch, better know as an excuse as to why somebody got off,or money paid them out of trouble and it was decided not to take any futher,we dont need him in the sherrifs department for any reason if the truth were to come out he would be behind bars himself.

I agree, we need more law inforcement in campti. There are some great officers around the campti, creston area but were they can patrol are limited. The way people drive on these back roads such as hart road is dangerous and they need more officers who can patrol those types of areas. There also alot of drugs dealing around the boat landings around in the creston area. Judith is just a concerned parent just as many of us are.
If you think there should be more law enforcement then why don't you get off your asses and do something about it instead of saying it on here. if you have no criminal record and you know right from wrong and you know you will not commit a crime; hhhhmmmm why don't you become a peace officer or a productive person of the community? Are you aware that there are many grants that the government hands out to help communities and youth? Go to town hall say you want to help, do something instead of sitting on your rearends online complaining about it. If you want better things for yourself and others then do not settle for less than you deserve.

We don't need more law enforcement, we need new and better law enforcement. If something doesn't work, you fix it. The guys in office are not enforcing the laws. To much money, drugs, and sexual favors are being given to those in authority. Even newly elected people do good jobs for a while until the bribes get to them. How many crimes are taking place in front of everybody and there are only a few occasionally high profile arrests? Something is very wrong with that picture. The laws are on the books. They are just not being enforced. It looks like we've got to take the neighborhood back ourselves.

An old friend of mine told me about this website and every since that day, I've randomly checking on the happenings of the community. It truly saddens me to see some of the things being written on here. I remember a time when if was fun growning up in Natchitoches. From going to the city park in the summer and watching baseball games, eating snow cones and crawfishing in the creek behind the park. I even have found memories of Campti as well, from buy popcorn balls and cool pops from Mrs. Clara, or going to Dembo's (Do Drop In) and buying 25 cent cookie bags... or even jumping a fence and knocking down pecans. Running to the projects to play basketball every evening was the biggest thing back then. Now all I hear about is this person stealing this or this person robbing this person, shooting stabbing and just down right hatred for one another. I have been around the world 3 times to be exact and trust me each time I took those memories with me and I'm damn proud of it. To hear some of you and the way you talk on here it just unbelievable. I used to contemplate moving back but when I hear what is going on with some of you, I have strong reservations. There is so much finger pointing going on both sides but if you guys can't figure out that you are doing this to yourself, it's going to be to late if not already for some of you. If we stop blaming the next person for you own failures. You have the same god given ability to make your life as properous as what you want if you just give it a chance. Yes, I grew up on the same streets you guys travel on back and forth and not once did I limit myself to Natchitoches Parish. I challenge each one of you who get on here and bad mouth each other to stop dragging each other down and start lifting each other up. If you guys only applied the same effort to bad mouthing each other to making Campti better this forum would serve a better purpose. I've seen some very bad places in this world and I can attest, Campti isn't the worst!

You should know by now that I have a sixth sense where you are concerned....
And of course the finger pointing continues. Why accept responsibility for your own actions when you can easlily blame your F-ups on someone else. The sad thing is, "they" say "Oh well I live in Campti and Campti is a bad place blah blah blah" Its not the town that gives the people a bad name. Its the ACTIONS of the people that give the town a bad name. Like MJ said, it has to start with the man in the mirror if you want to make a difference. We all are a product of our environment. You and I grew up there and we turned out just fine. Breaks my heart to see what was once a great (and safe) place to live, grow, and go to school, fall to pieces at the hands of society. What I would like to know is what you or I can do to make a difference? Where do we start?

I think it starts with someone with the ambition and passion to make a difference. Not just someone who wants to wear the title of mayor or council memember. Someone who isn't afraid to make a decision in support of the people for the better of the town. That same person should be able to carry the towns issues to the district committee and fight for Campti. Not just sit back and reap the rewards of those who have worked their butts off for Campti. And last but not least, someone who isn't afraid to get out there if need be with the town and get dirty.

Are you really that ignorant? Get an education and learn how to speak English. Then maybe, just maybe, we may be impressed and you maybe able to comprehend that others do have an opinion and they do not have to be working for the city to voice that opinion. My education, morals, and values surpass your mayor's and police officers more than you can fathom.

I completely agree. My family has had over 8 generations come from Campti. I still have family who are there. When I came down a couple of weeks ago I was so disgusted at what I saw. I even went by the graveyard to see that people have gotten so destructive and inconsiderate that they broke my great grandmother's head stone and spray painted on it. All the ran down stores. All the people hanging outside the store with their 40's and prostitutes. YEs, you could tell they were prostitutes. All my memories and hopes of it being the same had been turned into a nightmare. I feel sorry for the citizens of Campti who actually do care about their city and the innocent people who have to suffer for the injustice. However, I do not feel sorry for those people who sit back and help destroy their community.Call your Senator, Governor, make them aware. Put it in writing, send letters to everyone who is above your mayor. You may not think that will do anything but I have seen it work. Everyone answers to someone in the government. The question is are you willing to take it as far as it needs to go to get you home back? Are you willing to let people come into your house and take away from you? Your taxes pay their salaries. You have every right to voice your opinion and contradict everything they are doing. You have to love the Constitution!!!!!

Very well said. I think every citizen in Campti should do one thing for thier community. Maybe start small, like agree to pick up trash on your street. Maybe each church could pick a section of the highway to keep clean. Whatever you can do, just do it! Alot of out-of-towners are commenting on how bad it looks...Question for you? When was the last time you contacted a landscaper and asked them to clean up in Campti and you pay the bill?? How about calling someone who you know is still there and paying them to do it...Remember you love Campti so much. It is official..these posts have led me to write the current government and ask them if I can sponsor a clean up activity! I remember when our Key Club put on boots and gloves and went to work. So did the Student Council! Can we get the support of the schools?...Campti CUP (Clean Up Project) lives again!!

Sweatheart, I'm quite sure menal health can get you into a wonderful program--called Anger Management, And possible that would help you calm down and be able to get your message across
with much less ingorance, were people could better understand you.
And as for Campti having drugs, well if you and everyone else isent
aware of that, all it takes is to open your eyes and see reality, everyone does not live in a drug induced fairy tales land,or course there are some ,whose family members are involed
and they make a choice to defend what they know is going on!
Either way I agree this is a really small town to have the amount of drugs here that are here!!!!!!!!!!

What a great idea, but a lot of this could start at home,if your yard looks like a place people haul thier to a really good place to start would be there,no matter where you live you can have pride
and make a difference! It dosent take money to clean up your yard,But anyone to lazy to do that, will not respect what other people do,we could spend an entire weekend cleaning down town CAMPTI, and then the people who want clean their own yards are going to drive through throwing trash out their windows, some people
were not raised to be repectable ,and also not raised to have pride in what they have, then cant understand why they dont have more!I really feel sorry for these people but cant relate,I have always cared about the impression my home makes,it shows I care,if
God has blessed me with whatever I have ,I feel the least I can do is show my respect and appreciation for what I have buy taking care of what God has given me!!!!!!!!!!
