OBAMA TO CUT HEALTHCARE BENEFITS FOR ACTIVE DUTY AND RETIRED US MILITARY
The Obama administration’s proposed defense budget calls for military families and retirees to pay sharply more for their healthcare, while leaving unionized civilian defense workers’ benefits untouched. The proposal is causing a major rift within the Pentagon, according to U.S. officials. Several congressional aides suggested the move is designed to increase the enrollment in Obamacare’s state-run insurance exchanges.

The disparity in treatment between civilian and uniformed personnel is causing a backlash within the military that could undermine recruitment and retention.

The proposed increases in health care payments by service members, which must be approved by Congress, are part of the Pentagon’s $487 billion cut in spending. It seeks to save $1.8 billion from the Tricare medical system in the fiscal 2013 budget, and $12.9 billion by 2017.

Many in Congress are opposing the proposed changes, which would require the passage of new legislation before being put in place.

“We shouldn’t ask our military to pay our bills when we aren’t willing to impose a similar hardship on the rest of the population,” Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and a Republican from California, said in a statement to the Washington Free Beacon.“We can’t keep asking those who have given so much to give that much more.”

Administration officials told Congress that one goal of the increased fees is to force military retirees to reduce their involvement in Tricare and eventually opt out of the program in favor of alternatives established by the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare.

OBAMA'S CZARS
There are very few of us who know just what all of Obama's Czars do, as they quietly go about their "work" in the nation's capital. This listing of their names and job descriptions should be educational to all Americans, no matter what your political leaning. If you resent the existence of these extra-governmental "officials", with their very generous salaries funded by, you guessed it, you the taxpayer, then get angry with the one who put these characters on the payroll.

See who they are and realize what they want to do:

Yes. Newsweek gave President Obama a title which is "outlandish."

The word "outlandish" means "very peculiar: extremely unusual or bizarre."

It truly IS very peculiar that Newsweek gave an extremely unusual and bizarre title to our president. The title has nothing to do with President Obama. No one seriously has said that President Obama is gay. Only the extremist right-wing Neo-CON propagandists have viciously and falsely attacked the president on this issue.

As election day grows closer, it is clear that the Republicans have neither a viable candidate, nor a viable course of action to reclaim this country from the deep devastation wreaked upon us by the Bush43 administration.

Thus, with nothing to propose as their campaign platform, they are forced to engage in personal and false attacks upon the president. That is the nature of Republican politics today.

Since the Republicans do not have any good ideas about how to bring the US economy back from the "Great Recession" brought upon the US by the Bush43 administration, the Republicans MUST attack our president on false personal issues.

Ah, hahahahahahahaha!

So you admit that "A picture paints a thousand words" is NOT an English proverb.

You cite the saying as "One look is worth a thousand words," and further (incorrectly) attribute the saying to "a [nameless] Japanese philosopher."

ROFL! Those Orientals all look alike, don't they, Clueless?

"Printer's Ink" is a US publication. In March 1927, "Printer's Ink" published another form of the phrase, providing a Chinese origin:

"Chinese proverb. One picture is worth ten thousand words."

Your vaunted "Printer's Ink" source even admitted that the phrase initially was a Chinese proverb -- NOT an "English" proverb, as you foolishly alleged.

I find it very amusing that your own "source" proves you WRONG! Simply put: "Printer's Ink" says that I am CORRECT, and YOU are WRONG!_8-)

While you are researching President Obama's "Czars," you might also check out the fact that George W. Bush had 36 "Czar" positions, and appointed a total of 46 individuals to those positions. For a list of Bush43's "Czars," see this link:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_czars_did_...

Among the other "Czars," note especially Bush43's "Faith Czar," another "Faith Czar," "Faith-Based Czar," "Bird Flu Czar," "Clean Up Czar for Environmental Management," "Abstinence Czar," "War Czar," and "Bank Bailout Czar."

What we can see here is that Bush created five non-confirmed positions in his administration — in eight years. Of those, three fall solidly within the executive branch’s authority for national security and diplomacy: WMD, terrorism, and Sudan. Nevertheless, those positions should have had Senate confirmation if they enforced regulation, which would have been questionable for any of these five.

In contrast, the Obama administration has created 17 “czar” positions in seven months, all but one of which avoid Senate confirmation and Congressional oversight."

You say that "all but one of which avoid Senate confirmation and Congressional oversight."

Are you telling us that the Legislative Branch has authority over the Executive Branch? That doesn't sound much like "separation of powers," does it?

Federal judges are not "czars," but the foot-dragging Neo-CONs refuse to confirm many of those judges nominated by President Obama. The Republicans intend to sabotage the Obama administration in every way that they can. And they do. In their own way, they are terrorists, and intend to tear the government down in any manner that they can.

Well, Dawg, the President may not be Gay but he thinks it is OK for them to marry. Then he has the nerve to say he is a Christian. Sorry, you can't have it both ways. The Bible says it is wrong! He is which ever way the wind blows but I think he has stepped in it this time. You say the Republicans don't have any good ideas to bring back the economy. Well, what's wrong the Obama and Democrats? They've had 3 years! Quit blaming Bush for everything. That's just an excuse for the failure of the Dems. Newsweek printed this remark of which you speak. I don't believe the Republicans had anything to do with it. Obama caused it himself. He wants everybody to sooooo happy. Just do whatever! Sounds like some of these New Age preachers! I know some people that were Democrats that are not happy with him at all. Hmmm! Wonder how they will vote in Nov.! Maybe this is what it will take to get rid of him. HOORAY!

I agree with you on the "nuff said" part.

Thanks ever so much for sharing with us your "stream of consciousness." Reminds me of a scatter-gun. You know. Like a shotgun which goes off in many directions simultaneously, with little probability of hitting a target.

To solve your problem, let us just call gay marriages "civil unions." That would take away a lot of the heat and light from your argument and indignation.

(I once heard a similar line used by a guy at a bar asking a girl for a date. It didn't work, though. But I admired his honesty. I suppose the girl did, too. He said, "How about a date? I promise you that I will disappoint you.")

Gay marriage.....civil unions.....it's 2 men or 2 women living together. Doesn't solve the problem for me, Dawg. Why did God create Adam and Eve instead of Adam and Steve? Oh, I forgot...you're an atheist, so, you wouldn't know. I guess if He had just created Adam & Steve we wouldn't have had any more people on this earth. Right, Dawg? Please tell me Dawg......where have I missed my target? I don't recall changing my mind about anything I've said. Oh, one more thing......I think I hit my target!:)
