This is not a "new" uniform policy -- it's been in effect forever.

Marines, unlike other servicemembers, are not allowed to wear their cammies off base unless they are in their car driving home or pumping gas.... so this guy was not out taking a stroll.

My sincere condolences to this man's family -- they are in my family's prayers.

Hey Chris, It is a tragedy. How about spelling "Marine" with a capitol "M".
And yes, USMC Wife you are correct. A Marine can wer his cammies to the bank, dry cleaners, gas station. If he or she has a child in the car they can make emergency stops for medical attention, diapers and the like.

I am speechless, this very possibly could have been a gang initiation. Who ever would do this is not an American. I am willing to bet that it had something to do with a gang and was probably an illegal imigrant. Who wants to put money on it? Gang members in this area get more street credibility when they attack U.S. Marines

Voice Heard Nationwide you are correct LIFE IS SERIOUS AND BREATHES ARE PRECIOUS. This Marine was my nephew. It's still a shock to the family this horrible act that has happen. You can never be prepared to receive a phone call that someone you love and watch grow has been taken from you. He was loved by us all and we will miss him dearly. Thank you to those who have sent their condolences please keep his wife and new baby in your prayers.

Heart Breaking in HI, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'll be thinking of his wife and baby. This happened only 10 minutes from where I live. I don't think people realize how many Marines' lives are lost here on American soil. My brother has deployed 5 times to Iraq and says that it's more dangerous in CA than in Iraq. My prayers are with you and your family.

There were 4 Marines that were stabbed & beaten back in 2003. I am so so so sorry for your family's loss. I feel so bad for everyone. Marines are special people & every one of them has been nice to me. So I hope maybe that you can catch who did this by looking at the gang situation if you know what I mean!
