If water is the source of a tumor-causing agent, then the tumor more likely would be in various part of the body. But if the increase in tumors are in the brain, then the tumor-causing agent could be something that affects the brain. What about RADIATION from CELL PHONES and WIRELESS PHONES? It would be interesting to check out what side of the brain the tumors are and compare them with the dominant ear side these kinds of phones are used by the patients.

I don't believe it would be the water. That is just a cop out and an easy answer. I also don't believe that the cell phones ae causing this horrible epidemic i am a local resident residing just a few miles from Cameron. I would like them to find the problem quickly to overcome this before it spreads.

I lived in Cameron when I was a child. I had been diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 35 last year. Strange!

Is it just mere coincidence that Camerons' departing city manager {who has spent so much time promoting a water pipeline from St.Joseph} would announce his exit a week before this story broke? Consider also the large group in the two nearby prisons who would make an ideal study component in the research of occurring brain tumors in the area. Finally, of the eight reported cases in Cameron, how many of these are people who have lived in Cameron all of their lives and drank water provided by the city utilities? The answer my friends may never be known because of federal laws prohibiting public dispersal of medical records. Strident voices promoting a hidden agenda seldom get the results they want once the truth is exposed.

My thoughts on this does not have to do with the city cover up, I personally think if you look at the person that the news interviewed, a certain man who owns one of biggest pharmacy here in town, who when the water issue was going trying to be passed, wanted a lake, for recreational and a water source, his wife works for one of the surgeons here in town and is a family nurse practioner.
NO ONE that I know even knew of these tumors until the story broke and I talked to alot of people who live here, work here and even at the coffee shop where you can get and hear all kinds of gossip.
The answers will come to light, and I am very confident that is has nothing to do with the city or the water source.
So some people need to shut the hell up and wait and listen to the reports.instead of trying to get people to panic,
The sad fact is there are people all around that are suppose to have a tumor either cancer or not, and putting the blame on the city is just as stupid as saying you and you are responsible for it for not having your bottled water tested, after all, cancer has been linked to all plastic bottles that your water you buy at country mart and walmart, this was on the news weeks ago.

To Coffeeplus -- Wake up what did the pharmacist have to gain by this. Maybe by him talking we should consider that he know more than he can say!! Funny how you must be the only person in Cameron who didn't know of the brain tumors considering a well know real estate salesman, teacher, and city offical (just to name a few) have suffered from this. Wake up, grow up and get educated and quit being so naive.
I live in cameron also and i really wish i knew what coffee shop you are talking about. Love to go to it.

coffeeplus you seem to have all the answers for someone who tells everyone to shut the hell up and talks about gossip. You proceed to blame this on medical persons instead of city office? Makes all of us wonder what you do for a living? Live by your own words.

this is what I am saying people are jumping and accusing the city of a cover up and ect, when you listen to the rumors this is what happens. Just wanted to point out a few rumors that I heard as well is is just as stupid correct. Coffee shop is Ma & Pa center table where the smoking section use to be... you can hear anything you want there. most of it is Bull, trying to point out a few facts and it looks as if you and others bought the bait..
Rumors are running rampant in this town, people are scared and they have a right to be concerned, but to say the city is at fault or Phil Lammers is at fault is as stupid as the one about the pharamaist am I correct, People need to realize that they need to wait and listen to reports instead of gossip and rumors.

I am a retired air force, if you would read my post it was in regards to all the coffee shop gossip and rumors,
NO, I dont think the city has anything to do with it any more than I think the pharmacy, but if you listen to the rumors and gossip and then post you are just as guilty, so yes, shut the hell up until you have facts, and the fact that has been proven is that the water source for Cameron is clear, so what else do you have to say? rumors are going strong here about greased palms in city hall since 1992, so are these rumors true or fiction I am sure it is fiction or better yet LIES.
But lets look at the case in question, only a handful of people have these tumors, sad yes, but to get a whole town upset with lies is just as bad, because everyone who gets a headache will be in the ER wanting to be tested for a brain tumor, which will also make things worse for the real emergency if someone should really need it. Hell this town is already in a panic, just look at your post here,
Do I think the city is involved NO, Do I think the one who broke the story should not have? No, but what I do find funny is that the news did not interview anyone from the city of cameron, or any medical personnel.
If this has been going on since 1992 would there not be more cases out there of brain tumors? what about other types of cancer?
Just the other day, there was a story about how the plastic water bottles and baby bottles have been found to cause cancer.
Lets also look at other factors, other than the water source, Has anyone thought of the school? a little boy has a brain tumor, a teacher has a brain tumor, a city employee had a brain tumor,( which had a child in sports in school) there are three people that have a common link here being the school. so see it could be anything, but you have to look at everything.

Well first of all, I agree that there is a problem with the Cameron City Government, I personally have had problems with them, and I can attest to the fact that I think a cover-up is possible. Secondly I would say that 12 people out of 6500 is a major concern and not just a handful of people. As there should only be 1 out of every 10,000 people in a population with such a condition. And no, I had not heard about any of this until the news ran the report, but I am not exactly in the loop much here in town. So I for one, am very glad that they brought it to our attention. And yes, I have thought of the school and it scares the hell out of me as I have 2 children in the school and the teacher was one of my sons teachers. But where would the problem lie there? I just hope and pray they come up with an answer soon, cuz I'm ready to move, YESTERDAY!

In my opinion I think what they are trying to say is that if you listen to every rumor then everyone is to blame. I could be wrong, but at least reading the post is the way it sounds, and I can agree with them on one point, I never heard of any of this either until the news broke, and I also heard that it was going to be on the news at Ma/Pa's as well. I did know of the city clerk having a brain tumor, but that was only because I was at a city council meeting, but that was last year, and not seven months ago.
The person Coffee does have a point, if the water was proven not the factor, then why is everyone thinking there is a cover up? Why not look at what all of these people have in common, sorry but if what they post is true, has anyone tested the enviroment at the school for things such as black mold? or anything of that nature?
Why must everyone be quick to say it is the city? I am like the others, I am ready to move from here as well,
Someone stated what would the druggest have to gain by this, I would like to know what the City would have to gain from this? after all they would lose any kind of business that might consider coming to Cameron due to the bad reputation, People move away, because of this, there will not be a city, So I would like to know what they would have to gain from it as well.
Think About It

El Cajon, CA

Honestly, Think about this. Square mileage, in town, is little. What don't we all have in common? We shop at the same grocery stores, we all go to Sutherlands & Orschlens, we eat the same fast food and restaurants, schools, etc... We have everything in common. It could be numerous things. And as for a cover up? Really? I honestly can't believe that there is a cover up going on.
First of all the town is so damn small that we would all know. Probably hear about it at Ma&Pa's. They aren't smart enough to pull off a cover up.
And there are too many people there that will never leave. So no it isn't going to disappear.
And our pharmacist is a great guy, he isn't trying to gain anything out of this. Period.
And this has been going on for more than 7 months. Realize that, there are other people who have/had the tumors. There are people dying of other types of cancer. Maybe we should look at all cancer/tumor situations, instead of just brain tumors.
Everyone is scared. Let's stick to the facts, and try not to make it a bigger mess. So if you heard about it at Ma&Pa's or My Store, it probably isn't true.

The exact reason that there would be a cover-up would be because City Hall is scared of the outcome, people would move, they would have a reputation if it was found out that something has been wrong and they did nothing about it! They do have a tendancy of being pretty darn sneaky around here. To give an example, I had a small water leak for a couple of months, about the size of a pin hole and they charged me for over 260,000 gallons of water, and when I asked to have the meter tested, it never got tested. I fought with everyone at City Hall and still got left with the bill, and still have no idea where all the water is that they say leaked out of that little bitty hole. So I don't know, but I know that if there was that much water coming out of that hole that my whole neighborhood would have been flooded, and we are the ones that discovered the leak so I know the neighborhood wasn't flooded! It was only under my house and the ground was so saturated from the winter ice/snow that it wouldn't have soaked into the ground, at least not 260,000 gallons. So I'm just saying that City Hall is not exactly honest! But the water may not be the problem, we just want to know what the problem is!!! And they have alot more resources than any one family in town does to get to the bottom of it, and it feels like they haven't been doing anything but denying theres a problem.

Ok you may have a point, but if this was the city trying to hide something as you all seem to think, then how come the news in KC did not talk to anyone within the city? This was not done, because the woman on the news never said that the city declined to an interview or anyting of that nature. So, if the city was to cover it up like you seem to think, wouldnt a good news woman talk with the city! She stated the community of citizens in Cameron did not want the story broke, not the city or the council!
Everyone is so busy pointing fingers, they dont have enough sense to try and find a link or even if there is a link. So now that the water has been proven to you that it is ok to drink, what are you going to blame the city for this time? Face it, the city is not covering up anything, because if they are, then this goes much higher up on the state ladder than you can imagine, especaily since the DNR is involved.
Also, how come there was not a medical person talking with the news media about this cluster as well, the people that they interviewed was no person in the medical field, or the DNR field or even an employee for the city. If I was that concerned about it and was worried about my viewers, I would interview some people that MIGHT have some sort of ideal of what was going on.

I lived in Cameron my whole life, moving a few years back. I tell you what, they better figure this out. I don't want a few tests ran, nothing to come of it, and then it just slowly doesn't matter anymore. They need to figure it out in a hurry.#1 Priority right now. And the City better be careful, dot their I's and cross their T's, on this one. Let a crazy ass attorney get ahold of this, and there will be lawsuits coming out the wazzu. Everyone in town want a settlement? They had just better take care of this the right way.

how can one sue a city, when one does not know where they developed the tumor, it could be a number of things, just look at larry king last night, they were talking about brain tumors and the use of cell phones, they stated they ( drs) are seeing more and more cases of Kids having tumors, and they have linked it to cell phones and cell phone use.
So we know that it is not the water source, thanks to the STATE, and the CITY.
so accusing the city employees or council for a cover up is just totally crazy.

I dont know who to blame at this point or if there is anyone to blame for that matter. But what I do know is that I have 2 children 1 that goes to school here and a niece and 2 nephews that also attend here in Cameron, so something needs to be done and very soon like yesterday. I am 2 boxes from moving the hell out of here. If its not the water then what the hell is it! Its not cell phones or anything of that nature because if it was why is this only happing here in poe dunk Cameron it would be world spread and its NOT! Iam not saying there are not other people in the world with tumers but why the cluster why right here? Oh and by the way if you have a heart then put flowers and signs and balloons out by the road in the grass before Friday morning to show some respect for the loss of a very loved teacher that we lost all to soon!If We can bitch and moan at one another about all this crap then cant we come together to show the people of Cameron we care?
