I thought it would be fun to list one place from around the Lake area that you remember from the past. It would be neat to see what people come up with and from how long ago. If you have several in mind, I would suggest to only post 1 per day to give more people a chance. Ok, I will start things off with: GOLD NUGGET JUNCTION!

And think about all the businesses that are staying out now because the current mayor is too blind to see the harm mark maples is continuing.

The Catamaran that took fishing trips on the river.

Why not keep this post fun instead of trashing it?

When did Hillbilly Town close? We were talking about it the other night at work. I said it wasn't that long ago but someone said 25 years ago.

I miss the Brass Door in Osage Beach, was fun in the winter as well with the fireplace,oh and also the Links Landing where the new Grand Glaize is at.When I was young we would go there and rent a boat ,I think it may have been a 16 footer with a 30-40 horse motor thought we were big shots.Could you see yourself in that today you would be swamped in the first half mile.HillBilly Junction the stuffed Golddigger used to scare me to death.

Also forgot the Arrowhead Lodge ,shame on letting that be torn down, the new buyers thought the ground was worth a fortune. It is still sitting vacant after several years.Fun place for kids and the parents could have a beer in the lower level and sing along with the piano player.Ahhh the good ole times.

Gold Nugget Junction was a mock-up "Old West" town, like from Gunsmoke or Bonanza where you could ride a mini steam locomotive, pan for "gold," see actors perform "Old West" gunfights, go in and out of old timey shops, etc. It was owned by Denny Hilton, a long-time local entertainer and owner of the Country Shindig Opry Show. Mr. Hilton and these two attractions have been gone from the area for over 20 years. Too bad, because both were huge family attractions for many, many years. The Country Shindig is now the Harley Davidson Dealership. Gold Nugget Junction was approximately across the highway from the former theater.

Shame on Lake Ozark for allowing that historic structure Arrowhead Lodge to be demo'd. That was a landmark, now it's gone. Am I the only one who has noticed that good businesses are bought, torn down, and just remain as vacant lots? That's kind of a strange phenomenon. Arrowhead, Sherwood Resort, Lake Chateau, Kalfan, I'm sure there's many more. Somebody buys them, tears them down, then does nothing with the property, and they're all prime properties, all sitting as vacant lots for several years (even a decade or more) now. I can't figure it out. What a waste.

Anyone remember the Lake Club Cafe? That was a fun place. I also used to like the Osage House, which was originally called MaiTai and later known as Breckenridge and Marina Bay Resort. Had alot of fun there. Shooter's 21 was always a blast too. Osage Beach was a great place to vacation. It's so sad that it is no longer a tourist area. Few if any resorts, no more opry shows, no family attractions, no souvenir or antique shops; just a bunch of shopping centers, "big box" stores and chain restaurants now. It's so sad that the area has virtually died off. It always seemed to be so bustling and heavily trafficed with families. I would have never thought it to be possible for that area to die off as it did. Greedy developers ruined it I guess.
