The US Coast Guard issued a survey stating that Lake Ozark is one of the most dangerous bodies of water in the USA.It is rated third with the Atlantic Ocean and the Colorado River!! This rating was released on 7-10-06. Coments please..........

One of the problems is the big wakes that these boats cause by "plowing" with the front of the boat so high in the air that the pilot can't see whats in front of the boat, they need to either run at an idle or get it up on plane. In some states you'll get a ticket for causing too large a wake!

It's true. This lake is horrible. I live here. People are complete idiots on the lake. I know all the water patrol police officers on this lake. If people would pay a little more attention, check that their lights work, and didn't get drunk all the time then it wouldn't be so bad.

Boats are too big! There needs to be a size limit, no more than 44 feet. And that is being generous, but something of that nature might pass. Don't even like the lake on the big three weekends. However, the Fall is an awesome time to be at the lake. Lots of good lake folks out at that time of the year. Prior to memorial day is good as well.

Boating lessons should be highly suggested to anyone purchasing a boat of any size, but expecially something over say 30'. If the people who really don't know how to drive a boat would take some lessons, then maybe they wouldn't be so prone to "plow" the water.

It would also help to know the rules, like stay the 50'(?) away from docks, smaller more menuverable craft yeild to larger craft, everyone yeilds to sail boats.

A little curtsey would be nice also.

I am tempted to sit on my dock one weekend with my camara and a note pad and take the numbers down on all the boats that come to close, create large wakes, don't drive a idle speed between the dock and the no wake bouy etc... then turn them into the water patrol.

If people know that they will be held responsible for their actions, maybe they will drive a little better

It should be limited to nothing bigger than 36ft and if your bigger than that go to the ocean because apparently you can afford it...I own a wavernner and i am here to tell you there are some really dumb people riding these things.I am not suprised to know people get hurt and even die with the way these clowns let just anyone "borrow or ride" their waverunner with no experience...it's multiple accidents waiting to happen

36 foot limit would be nice, the reason I put it at 44 is I thought that would be something that could be passed.
As far as boats staying away 50 feet from docks, I thought it was 100 feet was no wake? Anyway, I have a dock on the main channel, and I just grin and bare it. I am on a public water way, and there is a price to pay for that. You can try turning people in, but as someone with legal know how, it won't make any difference. What is the worst is when the big boats are 200 feet out and go flying by. I would rather have 25 jet skis within 25 feet than that on 44 footer at 200 feet out.

You need to stop scuba diving as you obviously suffer from oxygen deprivation! The world record catfish from Missouri weighed 130 pounds and was 57 inches long (10 feet = 120 inches). http://articles.cnn.com/2010-07-21/us/missour...

You are full of baloney. You did not catch a 10-foot catfish; all you did was sit on your couch and watch River Monsters.
