Very underhanded political idea to do this to the local residents. This was not a fair thing to do to our elected representatives (CC & BoA).... They should be outraged ....

Rockwell has done a great job putting this carnival on. In the past three night's not one issue for the police to deal with. They have a great staff who has made everyone feel very welcome. The owner of Rockwell himself has been here all week and will be until the night it end's. I have talked to many, many people over the last three day's and everyone is having a great time and looking forward to coming back another night. Rockwell is taking care of the trash at the end of each night. Also the cost of police and is going to put the park back 110% how they found it. They are doing everything they said they would do and much more. I am looking forward to seeing them come back next year and many more after that. I personally have been in the park all three night's and will be for the next seven night's. I am so proud to see the city come together and enjoy something as a city for a change. I think the mayor did a great job by giving the green light on this. Hope to see everyone over the next seven night's. Thank you, Michael McLaughlin Councillor Ward Six

Well Mike it looks like things are going much much better than I had expected, and I am willing to concede when I have made an error in judgement. Perhaps just the word 'carnival' carries a not-so-luster impression. If things went good over the weekend with probably the highest amount of people attending, then it should bode well for the rest of the time they are here.

I have to agree with Everett Resident. I drove by a few times during the day and at night out of curiosity. I was surprised how quiet it was for a carnival for there was no loud music blaring. I also noted that other than parking along the park side of Elm St it was mostly foot traffic. I hope this continues and becomes profitable for all parties involved while offering family fun.

Thank you, Michael McLaughlin Councillor Ward Six I was a skeptic also and glad things are going well. I hope the league makes a lot of money because they are going to need it. I stand by what I said prior, it should have been held in a different location. If Rockwell returns in the future for any reason, you have to put it somewhere else away from residential homes. I know for a fact there are parking issues and issues with people staying 24-7 in trailers. If the majority of trailers are at Boston Coach, then the Carnival should be held in that same area, where there is plenty of room and plenty of parking AWAY from residential homes. You have to think of everyone, and not just yourself. I do not mean you, I mean the league and the mayor making it inconvenient for residents that live there. It's not over yet so I would not be so quick to praise the mayor. I'm NOT in favor of combining a carnival with the 4th of July celebration which is a patriotic holiday after the war with GB and many many American lives where lost. That should be separate out of respect.

I have noticed more traffic, people crossing out in front of cars, noise & music coming from the park. It was a underhanded thing to do to the residents. I hope they do NOT plan on bringing this back. Everett is definitely turning into Chelsea if you ask me.

Most definitely if they do bring it back, bring it to a huge shopping area (Gateway comes to mind)....No residents would be inconvenienced, plenty of parking....What about 40 acre park (is that the name?) behind NYB (previous Avco/Mellon Bank area)....

I thought I read in one of the local papers the Mayor saying this was a one time event for Glendale Park because the park is planned to be renovated.

Pro-Carnival wrote: What is wrong with it being a gathering place for teens? Where else should teens gather but at a Carnival? It is for fun! God forbid the teens of Everett be allowed to have fun. It is across the street from the polic station so it's unlikely that they will be hanging around there until 1am after the carnival is closed. I am sure the police will make sure the park is empty. Try to see the positive in things for once. It's only here for a week. I know my kids are looking forward to it,(although my wallet isn't). it's good to see a positive comment and totally true. Hissss to all the trolls

The two times we went, we took the bus there and decided to walk home.(Yes, we have cars) Really, you can park in the HS, the gentile Center, the rec, walgreens.. What more do you want? it is located in the middle of Everett and accessible to everyone. The carnival is well run and organized. When we were there, the ride operators were courteous and made sure the kids were safe. When we sat down to have something to eat, the guy running the food area made sure all trash was picked up and the seatings area remained clean. I saw plenty of families there, all having a great time! Who exactly is this inconveniencing? you? too bad!
