Seminole Winds went over the line

I really liked this restaurant, but they posted a sign inside that said Democrats = Abortion = Murder
I am a Christian Democrat and just because I believe
the Government has no right to tell me what to do with my body...that is between me and God..
Does not mean I support abortion.
I will NEVER step foot in that restaurant again.

The owner of Seminole Wind has a right to his opinion and a right to share it. It's called freedom of speech, just as you have the freedom to rant about things here. It's your right not to eat at Seminole Wind anymore, too. Just pray that our new government won't start taking away our right to freedom of speech, among other rights.

I also will not grace the front door of Seminole Wind until the owner apologizes. Michelle is right, the owner has every right to post that sign. But connecting me, a member of the Democratic Party, to murder has made me lose my appetite. Doesn't seem like a smart business move.

Perhaps he chose his morals over his greed. Grow up people, remember the old saying, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me".

I had never heard of this place before attending a group function there recently. The management has filled the restaurant with 'christian'-based materials, including selected bible verse on white boards, christian tracts at the front counter, and the "Democrat Party = Abortion = Murder" sign mentioned by other reviewers.

As with many so-called 'christians', the management has obviously chosen to cherry-pick the portions of the bible they agree with - that is, they post the Ten Commandments, yet still serve several foods listed in their bible (Leviticus Chap 11) as unclean and an abomination to god, namely shrimp, pork and catfish.

While the food was okay, it's definitely NOT worth a repeat visit, even if the 'religious' ignorance wasn't on such prominent display.

But, this is South Georgia, so the place was packed with those who are more amenable to the myth and superstition that 'christianity' represent.

I would have preferred eating at McDonalds, instead.

The food sucks anyway!

I think every Christian should take a stand for what is morally right. The Bible (God's Word) should be our road map. Maybe we all should read it more before we complain so much.
I happen to like the food at Seminole Wind.

And you think they might...because?

People call Obama all sorts of things that are not true (socialist, etc.) One thing that IS true about him is a committment to civil rights. There are not many people who care more about it (and know more about it) than Obama. Constitutional law professor, anyone?

Your paranoia is unfounded. If anything, mine will be less with the Bush Administration gone.

Thanks for the post, I'll eat there more often. These people are true Christians and not a bunch of fakes.
That's why they are prospering and opening more restaurants

And it is why they will never be big.

Their choice, but I don't find the company of ignorant reactionaries to be appetizing.

They are big enough, it's not about getting rich with them it's about serving the Lord

They are doing pretty good btw, one of the most popular restaurants in Thomasville and Cairo

It's their business, but I will not do business with them.

And it is their loss. I prefer to do business with people that have more common sense. A smart business man leaves the personal stuff at home, and does not do things that alienate customers.

If this person exhibits such a lack of judgment in his...marketing approach, then that could be taken as a sign that his/her judgment may be impaired in other ways.

So no thanks. This is a businessman that does not make good business decisions, period.

Idon't think that all men are men of GOD, only the ones that believe and love HIM. I prefer to
associate with christians because they are my brothers and sisters, as for clean food, what God has made is good. Don't compromise with anyone that supports murder.

Seminole Wind is a very good resturant. Obama supports abortion[murder]. You can't claim to live for God and vote for the devil. There is no such thing as a christian murderer. Clean food, what God has made is good. Ask Peter.

I have moved back to Tallahassee and have made the trip to this restaurant several times in the last year. My first few visits were fine, even with the overwhelming Christian overtone of the music etc. As an American, I believe in one's right to wear their beliefs on their sleeves if one wishes to, and I would never disrespect a business establishment who chose to post those beliefs.

However, on 1/10/09 I was in shock when I arrived to not very courteous service and lack of greeting to find the following first line on the board at the front of the dining room:

"Democrats = Abortion = Murder"

Needless to say I was very much offended, but did not want to make a scene, out of respect. I ate very little and left as soon as I possibly could.

I will NOT return to this establishment and will ensure that anyone who asks will not receive the review that I'm sure Seminole Wind would prefer.

I also intend to contact the owner to express my regret that I did not have the courage to ask for my money back, demand an apology and leave with dignity.

I will not contribute my hard earned money to such a biased, insultingly skewed show of Christianity in a business establishment.

The ultra-Christians are free to fill Seminole Winds coffers, but as moral, tax-paying American who still has the right to dissent (actually - the duty to dissent)and no thanks to the Republican's or Bush, I still have the right to be treated with respect regardless of my personal beliefs and to enrich only fair-minded, separated from church and state businesses that deserve my money.

You are right to say that one of our few remaining rights is the right to free speech, unfortunately "free" does not always mean true or charitable. Too many of our freedoms have been stolen over the last 8 years. I will hold onto mine as surely as some hold onto their rifles and continue to support the rights of all American citizens and their freedom of religion.

PS It also seemed the waitstaff etc., were a bit too "cultish" for me anyway.
