Just how on earth did this child get methadone?
If the mother is found is guilty, she should get life in prison.

I would think that she needs to face more than child neglect charges!!! I would think the people at the Methadone clinic would have said "you can not talk this drug during pregnancy or if nursing". I wonder if was passed out and the child got into some on his own?

This is so sad.

Another nominee for Mother of the Year off the ballot...when some one tells you to bring a baby in to be checked YOU DO IT!!!!

I remember from the original story that she was nursing the child. I don't recall if the clinic personnel had told her of the dangers or not.

This is a tragedy. I will keep her and her family in my prayers. The family for the loss of this precious child...and her that she sees the error of her ways and gets the help and punishment she needs.

My GOd, this is a sad shame. Given the cause of death, the poor sweet child is probably in a better place now, considering the child had methadone in its system just shows what kind of parent\s that your working with. I too would like to know how in the world the child got the methadone into system. I can only think of a few ways, she was breastfeeding while taking it (which is highly undoubtable, cause she probably never breastfed her child), the child found one and swallowed it (still it shouldn't have been able to be found), or she was trying to drug the baby for a while so she could do something else. Either which way, this woman will reep what she sows, for the rest of her life in prison, is gonna be a nasty one....

Why do women like this have baby's? A child is better off aborted than killed at the hands of its own mother, father, or stepfather, boyfriend, etc. We read about it all the damn time. It's legal ladies - you ladies who have no right getting pregnant in the first place. Or at least have the sense to give your child up for adoption (but that's right, you're delusional; you're on drugs to think you can be a good mother). The woman who need to read this most likely don't read and if they do know how to read, they don't read the news and are in oblivion on drugs anyway.

What a piece of trash. Poor baby, brought into this world to be cared for by a damn junky. Makes you wonder what kind of life this kid would of had if he lived...not a good one I'm sure. The breast feeding thing brings up a good point, but still...any normal person would think about, or even have a doctors advice on breast feeding ESPECIALLY if you were on methadone. Someone should of had this baby removed from the home when methadone was prescibed. People like this are a discrace to the human race.

My advice to others like her...Get a cat! Then get an abortion each time your uncle gets you knocked up. This way you can continue to enjoy your herion and meth without harming others, and you won't have to worry about a screaming baby ruining your buzz.

There is no way that much methadone would have been in that baby by breastfeeding,she probably bought it illegally in pill form and the baby found one and ate it. The clinic will only tell you that as long as you are on methadone your baby will also be and weaning them involves a 5-7 day stay in the hospital while the baby is put on a morphine drip to control the seizures and painful withdrawl the baby will have.
What a sad day it is when another baby in our area dies from methadone or from methadone related causes,I hope she rots in prison.

She's going to live with this for the rest of her life. That alone would be more punishment than I could bare.
Prayers are definitely in order.

it is a crying sham.I take methadone myself for cronic pain and have had nightmares of my child finding one some how so I keep mine locked up out of fear something could happen to my only child.people should use extreme caution when dealing with any kind of medicine.my prayers are with the family.it is truely a bad misfortune
