Supreme Court to Hear Mojave Cross Case

Full story: snafu-ed.blogspot.com

It's so far into the Mojave Desert, that some have wondered if any would even know about it, if litigation had not been brought forth. It's known as the "Mojave Cross," and the Supreme Court, whose new term just began, will hear a case on it.

Did you read the article? Here:

The Mojave Cross was erected 75 years ago by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Until recently, none but locals even knew about it. The site was not even on maps.

The Mojave Cross was erected in 1934. It sits on a 4,000-foot plateau and was a place of reflection for many veterans who went to the desert in part to recover from severe lung disease caused by poison gas attacks during WWI.

In 1994 came what caused the real issue. 1.6 million acres of desert, including the Mojave Cross, was transferred to the National Park Service.

Yes I read the article. Like I said, I don't want my tax dollars going to maintain this cross on public land. I don't care why it was originally put up, that's irrelavent.

Christ called. He said Christmas is a bs holiday that uses His name to make corporate America rich off idiots like you, zippy.

Here....try to wrap your tiny little mind around this. Many atheists, Jews, Muslims, Mormons, and Buddhists died defending our freedom. That freedom includes religion and putting a cross to honor ALL Veterans is dishonorable to those fallen soldiers and their families who are not Christians. TRUE Christians would tolerate and understand that and compromise by putting up AN AMERICAN FLAG or EAGLE or statue of a fallen soldier. Even if it wins this case, someone is going to destroy it simply because it represents intolerance and exclusion, not Christianity. Christ didn't impose himself on people.

And you wonder why middle of the road Americans think you Xtian FundaMENALISTS are apeshit crazy. Wonder no more.....

Of course you are you unpatriotic POS.

That cross has more right to be there than you do.

What taxes? YOu welfare leeches live off of the taxes WE WORKING class (same folks who said leave the cross alone) pay.

The government was not paying 1 dime for that cross until it took those lands...

It stays... but you can leave....

Your mother was HO and you father was a dog but thats 'irrelavent' for a person that has no respect for the people that died so you could have the right to sit in the corner and play with yourself. Odds are the only tax dollar you see is you welfare check.

I'm a Christian and I don't believe we are supposed to force our beliefs on others. You constitution lovers seem to use it to further your agenda, until that is, someone tells you idiots to read it. FREEDOM OF RELIGION. Look into it.

Tell me why Jewish Soldiers who are buried in Arlington National Cemetary have the Star of David on their graves and not a cross?
Because if you have any common sense in that empty skull of yours, you would know. YOU DON'T USE ONE RELIGIOUS SYMBOL FOR ALL SOLDIERS so take that cross and shove it up your own rude, Jewish ass.

The cross should and will be removed and will be replaced with an appropriate symbol: A Flag, a fallen soldier, an Eagle. IF the SC doesn't remove it or change it, too many freaks know about it and will destroy it anyway. No big loss. There are thousands of appropriate statues honoring our fallen soldiers across the country. This is just another excuse for angry republicunts to stay angry.

A cross in the middle of a desert isn't FORCING religion on anyone. Get over yourself

And its "freedom OF religion" not "freedom FROM religion."

Where does the constitution have the phrase "separation of church & state." I can't seem to find that one.

[first amendment to the constitution]"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". So the government can't put up a cross and the government can't take down the cross. The cross should stay "as is".
