While not just the ones that have a high mortgage, but the ones that have the home paid for,and all between, are faced with that loss. Many, older, that had counted on the home or property to be a retirement fund,or a retirement home fund, now find they have a shortage. So,every home,or,property owner has sustained some loss.Would taxpayers like to return that group to the previous value? It just does not work that way.Every investment has it`s risk. That is the nature of any investment.Only gov`t bonds and bank FDIC CD`s have the least risk.Even they are precarious today, with the gov`t so much in debt. Not to mean to be hard headed about this, but really there seems no way out but for some to lose what they put into this risk. Of course Forrest Gump, what you’re describing happens all the time, but these are extraordinary times and good people lost money because of illegal activities by bankers, your simple minded explanation is just that - simple minded! You want to give Romney and people like him, who have more friggen money than Gawd, a tax break but Joe Sixpack from down the street he can f**k off, he can take his wife and his kids and move in under a freeway overpass. What kind of American are you?

What kind of American are you? And how many of those bankers have been prosecuted and jailed? Heck, how many of them have even been charged? How many of them are big contributors and bundlers for Obama and the Democratic party? How many of them use the "revolving door" between their big banking business and working in the administration? Not to mention, banks were forced by the government to make questionable loans...or face suits of discrimination. But, the banks realized, that the government run fannie/freddie would buy up every questionable loan the bankers made...it was a "heads I win, tales you lose" kind of deal. The bankers and the government bureaucrats and politicians are all just as corrupt... which is why nothing will be done about it. We never should have given the bailouts to the banks. They would have gone bankrupt, the viable assets purchased by banks that had been better run. Depositors would have had their money from the FDIC, and homeowners would have either renegotiated their loan or sell and start over. The real solutions in the U.S. are permitting acutely (short term) painful but necessary defaults, bankruptcies, and foreclosures to occur as quickly as possible to reset economies as quickly as possible.

All the millionaires and billionaires keep telling you people just give them a little more tax break and it will all be fine. The Bush Tax Cuts started in 2001 and 2003. How long will it take you Repubs to realize they are lying. Your own Presidential Candidate has money hidden that is NOW known of in Swiss, Cayman Island and Bermuda Banks. WakeUp wrote: <quoted text> No, any home that you have a mortgage on is an investment. Otherwise, why not just rent? Or why buy the 3 bedroom house instead of the smaller 2 bedroom 1 bath house? If it's not an investment, why does anyone care when the price of their home goes up or down? With your rational, so what if you're underwater if you can still afford the mortgage...if it's not an investment? As for the "wealthy" taking advantage of the depressed market, um, you buy when you feel it's a good value for the price. And somebody, somewhere, is thankful that SOMEONE is buying. At least that way either the bank is recouping part of their original loan, or perhaps a family is able to get out enough equity to at least not declare bankruptcy-or be able to move into the more affordable house with some form of down payment, if not a sizable start on their equity. Your head is full of rightwing-noise nonsense! Pride of ownership is the number one reason why people yearn to own their home, white picked fence and all. It means you can paint it any color you desire, turn up the volume on your favorite CD, attach permanent fixtures and decorate your home according to your own taste. Home ownership gives you and your family a sense of pride, stability and security. And yes, last bur not least, it's making an investment in your future. Many thousands of families were robbed of all things by greedy irresponsible and negligent bankers.

It is Barack Hussein Obama, not Mitt Romney, who had the nerve to make this television ad about sending jobs to China when two men who belong to Obama – GM’s Dan Akerson and GE’s Immelt – are sending jobs to China so fast it'll make your head spin! And it was Barack Obama who gave TARP money to General Motors which now builds 70 percent of its cars in China. So there you have it. Some of it anyway.

This may a be a bit dated but the point is well taken. I-635 in Texas is being rebuilt with underground tolls from I-35 to I-45 and is contracted to a CHINESE firm for over $5 billion. Diane Sawyer reporting on U.S. bridge projects going to the Chinese.... NOT Americans. The bridges are right here in the U.S. and yet Obama has approved for Chinese contractors to come in and do the work. What about jobs for Americans??? Watch this video. It doesn't take long to view. This one should be tough for the supporters of the current regime to swallow....AND it comes from ABC NEWS U.S.A. Bridges and Roads Being Built by Chinese Firms Shocking to say the least! This video is a jaw-dropper that will make you sick. (It was also shocking that ABC was actually reporting this story.) The lead-in with promising jobs in the U.S. by improving our infrastructure is so typical of our leaders saying one thing and doing another. http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/us-bridges-ro...

Like I post ALL the time---- Your Republican Leaders in DC at work for America. Just one more example: Friday, June 1st at 7:55AM EDT Late last night, the House passed the largely non-controversial Military Construction/Veterans Affairs Appropriations (MilCon) bill for FY 2013. But there were two amendments germane to labor policy that received roll call votes. The first amendment, which was sponsored by Pro-Big Labor Michael Grimm (R-NY), stripped language from the MilCon bill prohibiting federal government construction contracts in excess of $25 million funded by the bill from requiring that only firms that enter into project labor agreements be considered for bidding on a contract. What does this mean? Took away the limit of American companies only and American paid workers. But somehow the Repubs are for the middle class working America??????????

But please tell me what we, lowly Americans can do about it. We either buy it or do without. What choice do we have? When it comes to buy American, where do you see the label or product label that it was made in the USA anymore? The best thing we can do when we pick up an item made somewhere else is to put it back on the shelf, but then we would have half of America walking around in the nude. Tell me your solution when lower class Americans can only afford what is put on the shelf through slave labor. One place interestingly enough that you can occasionally buy American is the Family Dollar in Murray, Ky., or perhaps in other towns, too - and Dollar General sells "Premier" insoles for shoes and other foot special items. But not much else. And your solution is? Oh and by the way. Was it not Bill Gates who has given billions to charity over time? I don't know about Steve Jobs.

Wall St. and CEOs want all the money they can make no matter what it does to America. When Henry Ford decided to pay his workers $5 per day instead of the $1 like everyone else he was asked why by a reporter. His answer was "they are going to be my customers". It will take some time for the American companies to realize this truth. Or they may never and America will fade away into just another nation. Nothing is written in stone that America will always be great. The middle class that built this nation is dying. It started with Trickle Down Economics and has been getting worst each year since. When a nation has the top 400 wage earners making as much per year as half of the population there is not much hope. When you have the top 10% of wage earners in America receiving 80% of all the income per year that other 20% of money divided among the 90% of the population doesn't go far. Correct on the Gates Foundation giving away half their money to charities. Ironic that they give to help the poor after making the money from hiring 13/18 year old Chinese girls at .30 cents an hour and keeping them locked up in a slave camp.
