Chris wrote: I hope your husband gets better soon. That incident does not surprise me. I know someone who had injured their foot, and went to ER and they xrayed it, said it was not broken, and sent them home. The hospital called them a day or so later and told them someone had looked at the xrays again and it was broken, and to come by and pick up the xrays and take the to their dr. They go by there to pick them up, and were told the xrays were misplaced, and they wanted to do some more. This person said FORGET IT, and left. I have everything done in Rome, but a few years ago, one dr. had scheduled a test at GH. I had perfectly good insurance, and when I checked in,they gave me a very difficult time, and even called to verify it was good. Several hispanics were there, and they were like"Hi there how are you, I will be right with you, sorry you are having to wait". Excuse me for being a tax paying american citizen with a valid insurance card!!!! They are some of the most hateful RN's in that hospital. I moved to dalton I'm glad I won't ever have to go back to that ignorant place.

my child went to their grandmothers for a weekend and ended up in major pain in her stomach after playin and fighting over a ds with her cousins well long story short they took my daughter to gordon county ER about her stomach where they told her grandmother she was constipated. She then returned her home to me sick. the next morning my daughter woke up covered in bruises and said her and her older cousin had been fighting i was furious and decided not to let her go back. the following weekend she became sick and throwing up. I rushed her back to the ER where they finially ran some test come to find out she had blunt force trauma to the stomach which they had missed a week earlier saying she was constipated and it stayed that way a week until part of her intestines had died. The Gordon county serriffs office then arrested my fiance and said he beat her while i was waiting on a bus! There is nothing to prove that. It simply DID NOT happen. In juvenile court the dr testified by the next week the injuries were 5-7 days old that was the two days at her grandmothers and her grandmother testified she was fine when she came to her house but she had seeked medical attention while she was there for her stomach pains and they still gave the grandmother temporary custody took all three of my children away and wrongfully charged my fiance with felony that could put him away for 30 years. The gordon county system all works together to cover eachothers backs. If the ER wouldve found this my 3 yr old wouldnt have suffered for a week and she wouldve been with her grandmother when it was found which would have proved where she was hurt at. but to cover the hosxpitals FATAL mistake ( yes she almost died! and wouldve had i not took her back ) police say this happened after she was returned the two ER visits have nothing to do with eachother. GORDON COUNTY HOSPITAL AND SERRIFFS OFFICE RUINED MY LIFE MY KIDS LIVES AND MY FIANCE with their mistakes! any suggestions?

I don't know of a hospital/medical facility/care center that has 100% employees who are *programmed* to be kind OR mature OR to exercise excellent judgement. Anyone who witnesses unacceptable/blatant/disgustin g/inappropriate behavior needs to document it, SIGN it, and call the Human Resources Director (NOT whomever answers the phone in HR), and let the Director know what happened, and that a statement (to their attention) will be arriving (with "Confidential" written on front of envelope) and that you are cc'ing it to the hospital president/CEO. Complaining in ALL CAPS on the internet is certainly a "vent," but not much a guarantee that any person who has any authority to do something, will even *hear* about the situation, if that is the goal. I've been in HR a long time and I would hope that someone observing this type behavior would speak up so I could handle it. I also am convinced that any company, association or facility that handles sensitive, private information about people would take this type situation very seriously. It screams out that a "blurter" is in a position which they should not be! Everyone should do the right thing -- even the complainer. I would guess, since someone was disturbed (rightfully!) to the point of putting it out on the net, that they have already followed through with this complaint. Management can not do a thing unless they know what has happened. I know a few people at Gordon who would want this situation righted.

I can tell you that Human Resources at Gordon is not the place to issue a complaint, not since Add Layson left. If you want anything done you need to go straight to the top or it will be covered up and overlooked. A letter of complaint to their president, Pete Webber, and to the president of Adventist Health System. I had a complaint against the hospital before and took it to Bud Owens when he was there and he and Ed Moyer handled it. Since Bud Owens went to Floyd and Ed Moyer went to Atlanta, I don't trust anybody there to take care of a problem. Actually I dont even use them anymore, I switched doctors to Rome and use Floyd. That's my opinion.

You probably had a boil caused by Staph aureus. Boils/abscesses/furuncles /clogged pores whatever the doctor chooses to call it are very painful and the tissue is inflamed so the doctor probably also prescribed an NSAID (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug), along with the antibiotic. It's possible that the boil was indeed undrainable at the stage of infection when the first doctor saw you, so he saved you from being "lanced". Three days later when you went to see another doctor would have given the abscess time to mature,...now it could be incised and drained. By the way, MRSA just stands for Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus. So your first doctor was right, it was a Staph aureus infection. Didn't your other doctor clarify that to you? That's probably why no one got back to you when you complained, i.e., if you are going to give a negative report, you first need to know what your talking about or they might think you are just a cantankerous person. The renovations to the hospital provide a more comfortable atmosphere for all, and make Calhoun look good. MGA wrote: I have had MANY experiences with gordon hospital. Many have been unpleasant! I went in about 2 yrs ago with a staph infection on my wrist which was brought home by a child from locker rooms at school. The dr came in and looked at it told me it was staph perscribed antibiotics. I asked him several times to try and drain it because it was so painful and I to hold my arm up it throbed so bad. He told me nothing was in it everytime. When the discharge nurse came in she handed me a paper on clogged pores or boils. I told her that was not what the dr told me it was and I needed the proper diagnoses for excuse from work. The dr came back into the room (not happy)told me he would have to culture it but since it wasn't draing it would not show anything most likely. Three days later I went to my dr and he looked and it said oh my! He did lance it and yes there was alot of drainage sent it off and told me if I hadn't came back in when I did I would have ended up in the or!! Guess what it was MRSA!!!! I DID REPORT THIS AND NO ONE EVER GOT BACK TO ME!! They can do all of the renovations and adding on but until there is new management it will not help gordon hospital. They have THE WORST REP OF ANY HOSPITAL i've ever heard. when will enough be enough and someone take charge and do something.

I would like to thank Gordon Co Hospital for the help they gave to me and my family. The nurses in the ICU are THE BEST I have ever seen. They are obviously overworked, but still gave the utmost care and concern for their patients, but also their families, who are under considerable pressure and emotional distress. Thank you to all of the nurses in the ICU on the weekend! You are angels.
