Saxonburg remains mum on top officer's discipline

Full story: Valley News Dispatch

Neither Saxonburg's mayor nor its council members yesterday offered an explanation for why disciplinary action was taken in January against the borough's top police officer.

This firing of police officers is good for the community. All they do is harrass the fine citizens of this town.

I, for one, am glad they are gone.

Saxonburg wins; but more importantly, the citizens.

Has anyone had any issues with an officer with the last name Suprano? I've never had to deal with any Saxonburg police until recently when he pulled me over for nothing more than speeding and he was incredibly ignorant and rude. I was more than nice to the guy and he practically threw a tantrum on main street saying if he ever caught me speeding again, he'd have my license revoked for a month. What a joke.

I am sorry this happened to you... and this is not a joke.

This is an everyday event. Saxonburg is becoming a ghost town because of the abuse of the Police. Many business' are closing and people avoid Saxonburg for fear of how you have been treated.

I had heard rumors about it, and having lived here for the past three years I hadnt experienced it yet until this past week. Afterwards some other people brought up incidents with this same officer saying that he always has an axe to grind with everyone. I just dont see the point in treating the people of the town that you're supposed to serve and protect like garbage.

This isn't the same cop that has been suspended. Has anyone heard exactly why he has been suspended now for three months and counting? How much time does council need to hand down discipline action? If this officer too acts questionable may be then the citizens need to hold the mayor accountable for their actions.

Which cop has been suspended? To be honest with you, I never knew any of their names because of never having to deal with them. When I brought up the one that pulled me over to some coworkers, more than a few mentioned bad experiences with him.
Someone does need to be held accountable for this though. It's one thing to be rude to a real criminal, but to be blatantly ignorant to the citizens that you're supposed to serve and protect? I'm not saying speeding is ok, but cmon..it's not exactly what you'd consider a "crime".

suprano is not the one suspended. it is bergstrom you can always file a complaint with the mayor but i wouldn't recommend it. the mayor will tell him.

I agree. You don't want to complain to the mayor. Rumor has it that a complaint was filed and an innocent person lost his job from the unprofessional conduct of the officer.

Thats a shame that the police in a little town like this are so corrupt and the people running the show have their heads stuck in the sand. The only people that lose are the taxpayers/citizens.
Suprano claimed that if I didnt fight my ticket in court, he'd make sure that I got no points and my ins. company wouldnt find out because he was giving me something other than a moving violation... He said if I fought it he'd make sure I'd get the points. I'm waiting now to see if this was a lie. I'll find out in a few weeks that I have points by the sounds of how this guy operates.

It sounds like Saxonburg has a lot of issues with their police. If you look under their website, the mayor is in charge of them. I heard the town has a history with their police. Didn't the old police cheif lose his job also for taking his gun into bars off duty? Now they have one officer suspended and another threatening speeders.

It was my brother-in-law fired from his job for the complaint that was filed. It is a shame that this officer gets a choice to resign and yet keeps a pension. My brother-in-law had no choice. Although a deposit was put into his 401k a couple days before he was fired, he wasn't given an option but was told not to fight him. He won't win nobody beats him. And my sister was sent a letter from this officer's attorney saying she will face criminal charges.

I am glad to hear this officer is finally being investigated. He had taken an oath not only to serve and protect BUT to uphold the law, not break it as the mayor states that he possibly has done. I know if I downloaded a cleaner on my computer at work, I would be facing charges. Why is he not? Isn't that destroying borough property and tampering with evidence?

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Aries

Don't get embroiled in a bad-tempered skirmish today, for it might turn into more than that if you aren't careful. Everyone seems to be ratty and argumentative, but once you let the first spat take place it's effectively declaring open season. Even though things seem out-of-joint, keep your lines of communication open.
