A man wanted by police for a carjacking in Butler County was arrested last night in McKeesport.

According to today's issue of the Post-Gazette, 48-year-old Michael Sheehy was taken to Butler County, where he was arraigned on robbery and assault charges in connection with the beating and carjacking of a 44-year-old East Butler woman back on May 24th. The woman told police that she had offered Sheehy a ride to the bus station at around 5:30 that afternoon. Once inside her vehicle, Sheehy directed her to pull behind the Marathon gas station and convenience store at the General Butler Bridge on South Main Street.

The woman complied, and Sheehy choked the woman before throwing her from the vehicle and driving off. Her Dodge Intrepid was recovered in Homestead borough on Wednesday of last week.

Sheehy was returned to Butler County and placed in the Butler County Prison, where he's being held on $50,000 bond, pending a preliminary hearing Monday before Magisterial District Judge Pete Shaffer of Butler.
