why aren't any of you on city council? i'm not saying that the people that are now are any better than you would be, but if you want change, you need to do more than talk about change.

i'm not on city council, because i have family obligations that would make it impossible for me to dedicate the time i feel is needed to do justice to our city. also, i'm just not interested.

Just like my name says. Nothing will change. Opinions don't matter. It's just a way to vent and make us feel better. This is a waste of time.
Nothing,
That kind of attitude will leave you spiining your wheels and getting nowhere. Why are you here then? there are folks here that do takes the issues butler faces very seriously. Do you always waste your time on things. Seriously, what is your true motive for being here and reading our trash?

if i was on city council i would vote to raise taxes so we could pay the council members much more money, since it is a thankless job that requires alot of time. we also need more tax money for statues, more lights on main street and 100 more police officers. i would make sure the road that i live on it paved every year and i would vote to buy beer for the city workers to drink on their breaks.

Butler Man Charged in East End Melee
04-20-2008
A Butler man was charged with starting a melee in the city's East End early Saturday morning.
City police say they received a call about a large crowd gathering for a fight in between the Monroe Hotel and the A Plus mini-market during the two o'clock hour. Police arrived at the scene and found 24-year-old Aaron Bender being restrained by another man.
Police were told that Bender had caused a disturbance at the Monroe Hotel some time ago when he spilled beer on one of the bar's patrons. He was asked to leave several times but refused. He was released
Wonder if Councilman Reese dropped the dime to his ''private'' bouncer crew to take care of this ????
i've been thinking about this comment and the "mr. casual" comment for a bit now. yes, counsilman reese is very casual, but you have to take into account that he isn't a career politian like the rest of city coucil. personally, i consider that a good thing. also, he is a local businessman, i consider that a good thing also.
as far as the fight and the monroe hotel's "security crew", they don't have a security crew. they have 1 guy who sits at the entrance to the bar on friday & saturday night and checks id.
just my 2 cents, take it for what it is worth...

The punk POS who wouldn't leave the Monroe should have been kicked in the head and tossed in the gutter. All business owners put up with some crappy clientele, particularly in bars - I know because I've owned several in the past. Reese, if the crew was engaged, did the right thing. Heck, I've paid strangers $20 to run out the riff-raff when bouncers aren't available.

I've noticed that also, he tends to flap his gums at those meetings, perhaps he's toning down his image in case he decides to run for Mayor

She also is the PR contact for the Penn Theater Community Trust. They are trying to restore the Penn theater but they hit a snag when their founder, Don Rasely, was arrested for sexually assaulting a teenage boy.

Thanks for the info... I find her unprofessionalism at council meetings comical. Hopefully she isn't re-elected for a second term.

Not really concerned about how she feels about either of them. What does concern me is the fact that she knew back door bullshit was going on and said nothing about it. As a public official, it seems she would be obligated to expose unethical and bad behavior. She is a city councilwoman for crying out loud. She would have had to have known the fix was in but her association with an organization founded by a child molester was more important to protect than the interest of the community.
