Wal-Mart touts Supercenter benefits to Butler

As we anticipate a Supercenter coming to Butler, obviously there are pluses and some minuses, but overall, more business growth in Butler simply means "more business growth in Butler". Isn't that a good thing?
Now, Wal-Mart has its own version of why its supercenters are successful. Responding to a recent Food Retailing Today report on a supercenter's impact on grocery retailing in Carson City, Nev., a Wal-Mart spokeswoman said consumer acceptance of the company's supercenter format is good for the people who shop its stores as well as for the communities in which it operates.
For consumers, accordng to spokeswoman Sharon Webber, Wal-Mart offers more than just dollar value. "Wal-Mart frees up time. I think that's a very inviting part of it. Shopping supercenters is a way to combine errands," she said.
And even if a supercenter leads to more automobile traffic throughout the community, and perhaps also a need for infrastructure investment,(good point) Wal-Mart boosts communities--including competing retailers--in substantial ways (also a good point). "Wal-Mart can't be all things to all people," said Webber. "There is a lot of room in the retail market and that goes along with the traffic we bring to town. We bring opportunities to other businesses by bringing people into town."

One thing we need to think about is ,Wal-Mart has created a monopoly on the retail business industry, if you support yet another super center you will likely be running out of business several of the locally owned business that give back to the community in more ways than just a few dollars of your grocery bill which is still left to question. In my opinion we should put a stop to the tyrant, they are comming in with all these wonderful promises to SAVE YOU MONEY when all they are doing is crushing the little guys around them
