credit card closings surprise consumers

On his way home from work recently, Rick Niles of Laurel, Md., stopped at a gas station to fill up and as usual pulled out his Shell credit card to pay.

When credit card companies pull this kind of thing your reaction should be to cancel your payments to them. You get what you give. Let them yell they are not going to sue you over a few hundred dollars and they already screwed up you credit rating, what more do you have to lose?

Seems doubtful that this call was not fraudulent. I suspect that her identity has been stolen by now, but she doesn't know it yet.
