This time around it'll be a bit different. Think about it.

Last time the only attempted votes "for" the referendum used intimidation and illogically placed media written logic.

This time they've enlisted your politicians; but only if the politicians got something for their work and efforts. What would make the politicians switch "sides" in the whole referendum debate?

What would have a politician "Turncoat" promote the referendum?

Maybe it’s the love of Oprah? Maybe it’s the lack of leadership qualities? How about the politicians’ that say one thing; but really mean another thing?

Or better yet a thought process of a push of sacrificing oneself for the "common good"; getting even with those capitalist pigs; all the meanwhile satisfying one's own thirst for what drives them.

Just go and vote NO. Don't listen to all this jibber jabber. It means nothing, just keep voting no and no school.

Overcrowding? I understand that the high school is down to one shift this year.
Maybe we should spend money on an outside study, this is laughable. I know that many people have the right intention but it has been done for the wrong reasons and misguided people wanting either their own school or additional staff jobs.

Maybe some folks need to lean on Pious Bob and ask him why he's supporting the school referendum....really ask and see what kind of answer you really get...doublespeak....

Instead of parking trailers out front of the school I have a better idea. How about using some of the many foreclosed houses in the district currently sitting vacent as classroom modules?

Think about it, it works on many levels. It's kind of like home schooling which will scratch the itch of the home schooling weirdos out there. Also for all of the phoney baloney ego maniacs that have to have a brand new school what could be better than having your precious pup being schooled in a 5000 square foot McMansion? Complete with all of the amenities that led to the foreclosure on the phony baloney ego maniacs that built them. It's very Zen.

Okay troll I'll take the bait.

What the failed referendums got me was a much lower property tax bill and a couple less vacent buildings in the area. Central Campus being one and the half empty monolith that would have been on Cedar Road.

Actually its time for someone to be put out to pasture and be dignified about it; because most likely the other choice will be a non dignified exit.

Why not, Like the old saying goes. If at first you don't succeed, keep wasting taxpayers money until you do. Just think, with all the wasted money on referendums, surveys etc, we could have built onto East and added more classrooms or better yet, cut all admin pay and benefits and buy some IPADS for classrooms and goe bookless. Many other schools are going that way.

So lets forget wasting time on the idea of building another school just so a few kids get another try at a sports team, or some phonies in Homer Glen will feel good about themselves in winning the referendum fight.

But I seriously don't think we need it. The economy is still in a downward spiral far as housing market. People are still just beginning to enter foreclosure and leave the area, even state. Illinois is one of the highest taxed states in the country. Look what it got us.

Forget the state grant money, the state is only around 90 billion or so in debt also. Get ready for another NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO vote!!!

So not even a slice of pizza, or the price of a cup of coffee etc will convince all of us that a new school is needed. We just added more classrooms, keep the mobile ones, heck if you need more classroom space move all the admin functions to Central campus and use those office space. Combine offices, share space for admin. Plenty of options to go before another school is really needed.

First the economy has to rebound bringing more families into the area not leaving. Every year enrollment is still going down. Even with all this the local govts are raising taxes along with state and fed just to pay for what they have now. Nothing extra.

Unless the admin has a truly crystal ball to see into the future for growth, they should also see . Here it comes

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

is the crystal ball getting clear now

To the poster above:

I've said before that a good teacher only needs 4 walls to teach, but I was teaching at a college last year that piloted iPad integration in a few of their philosophy courses- it was an overwhelming success. Alot of colleges have been increasing classroom capacity to cut costs. I suppose I should be against that, but it's my understanding that the extra interaction the professors had with their students using their tablets made a huge difference in their grades and overall class satisfaction.

There are still some concerns regarding liability if a student were to use the iPad to download illegal content, some concerns regarding theft and damage to the tablets, and also some questions about whether or not students can become distracted in class playing... Angry Birds, or whatever, though. None of those concerns were warranted as I understand, but I'd guess they would be magnified in a high school setting. If they could find a way to jump those hurdles, LTHS could really set itself above the competition in the area.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Aries

It won't be long before you start to feel bored today, unless you can distract yourself - you're switching from one activity to another. Ideally, you should keep yourself amused by doing something that's unusual or challenging, otherwise you'll be tempted to stir up trouble just to see what happens next! Even though you know that's a bad idea, you won't be able to resist, unless you've got something better to do with your time.
