How can you go from getting arrested several times for theft to owning millions in real estate and being friends with the mayor? Only in chicago can this happen and having the right skin tone (GREEN)

Are we supposed to feel sorry for the widow? I don't. What you sow you reap.

Hang on to the Property.
Let City Hall hang in the wind. Cardenas and Daley dont need parks. They want it for something else.

The "Windy City" moniker has nothing to do with the weather. It was solely about "hot air" generated by the politicians. THAT .... was many years ago, and still holds true. It will never end, at least in our lifetime.

Let me get this straight: we're supposed to feel sympathy for the widow of a mobbed-up ex-jewel-thief multi-millionaire, because the city is low-balling her on a piece of property?

I generally applaud you tenacity in shedding like on the deep connections between city/county/state government and organized crime, Mr. Kass, but you picked the wrong "victim" for this piece.

When the fight card is "Crooked Politicians vs. The Mafia", the loser is always the taxpayer. Always.

But somehow, I just don't.

Maybe it is because they are all crooks or benefited from being crooks in one way or another.

You're not supposed to feel sorry for her, nimwits. You are, however, supposed to connect the dots and see how something like this happens. His girlfriend did/does what for a living? And, just because you don't feel sorry for her, the city doesn't have the right to take her assets.

can't keep track of the crooks without a score card.. or at least their crooked deals.. what's so unusual about Daley stealing property.. he's been doing it for a while now.. about time someone called them out on it.. now lets see if they do something about it..

Actually the city is demanding/trying to force her to take the deal.

Are you saying the city has the right to do this to a criminal's wife but if she wasn't then you would be upset. It's a double standard and now the city is the one stealing and swindling.

The city is taking advantage of their power and public opinion. They really aren't in the right in this case.

This is another fine story by Kass. Unfortunately, its another story I am tired of hearing. We are the murder capital of the world, the police brutality capital of the world, the corruption capital of the world and the morons running the city wonder why people do not come to the city and get mugged. Wow, they are not only corrupt, but really, really stupid.

Kass is making up stories to keep us from believing Chicago is a world-class city. Richie won't like this but he's done at the end of this term.

The story is about clout. Who has it and who does not. Regardless of her husband's dealings.. the property has a certain value depending on it's use. The things is.. the City just shelled out 86m for Michael Reese, which seems way to high in price. But that is owned by insiders.

This reminds me of the reverse of that piece of river property the City bought from a Daley friend for millions when be bought bought it for a small amount 6 months before the sale to the City.

In this case, the person does not have not clout so the value being placed on it is small. I bet the value of the property will double after the sale and someone on the close friends list will make out like a bandit. So we all will pay for it twice.

I think the article is about fairness and justice. It is about the fact that we should all get a fair shake when dealing with government.
