Dracut Pop Warner vice president under board inquiry

With all these recent cases involving these youth sports organizations, and as a parent whose child participates in this type of league, I think there has to be some oversight. Particularly in the Tewksbury and Billerica cases, this is REAL money. This money is supposed to be for the benefit of the kids. There should be an annual independent audit of these leagues Seems like a shame and not a good use of the funds, but apparently we can't trust the people running these organizations, and that's the real shame...

At a minimum, the treasures’ should be bonded to protect the organization.

You have no idea the stunts this man has pulled. if Mr. Paniello really wants the goods just ask most parents of popwarner. Criminal does'nt begin to describe this creep. We will be glad when he's away from our children. How he holds all these jobs when his lazy behind is always oulled pver talking to someone while in his DHA truck, is beyond all us taxpayers??? Is the town hiring? I'd love a job!!!!

Pop warner dad. you have no idea what's really up. the prolem is that the people in there now want him gone because they are stealing the money and he is asking to many questions, so they made up this stuff and now the real trust of the money will come out and you will see who the problem is not Mr Martin. but is sound like you need a job yourself

From my experience, which thank god is all behind me, I'd say that Pop Warner is nothing more than a criminal enterprise. They certainly teach nothing of value to our children.

All treasurers and presidents are bonded. Mr. Martin is none of those.

He is the VP and should be as well. I do not and will never trust the man. I have seen his shady dealings first hand.

You completely have your facts wrong. No one in the current organization is taking money from the organization. Once you have your facts straight then come back to the forum.

let's not go nuts here, the guy didn't steal, this had nothing to do with money, if his daughter wasn't involved this would have been thought of as him trying to make sure all the girls to go to FLA.
To mention it in the same story as what happened in Tewks and Billerica is crazy. Those people stole money, Brian didn't.

OG Frank - comments are somewhat correct. Mr Martin did not steal money-he simply "appropriated" other people's money - that they donated to help send a "particular" child to the cheer competition in Florida. It is not within Mr. Martin's rights - legally and especially morally to xfer funds from 1 child to another (no matter whose child it is) without the consent & knowledge of the parties involved.

My neighbors child didn't go.She's a single parent and did her best to raise pledge donations. Why was their daughter special when my neighbors daughter isn't???

Right, but he didn't xfer money from one girl to another making the first ineligible to go, it was the xtra money he transfered around. Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying what he did was right (it wasn't), but to compare it to the other cases is a little extreme. What makes it worse is having his daughter benefit.

I guess it is happening everywhere. Let's take a long look at Westford/Littleton AYF books. There's a reason they left Pop Warner.

I understand he didn't steal money, but he also did not appropriate funds to a girl who could not afford it as stated in the article. He wanted to make sure that his daughter was given fundraising credit because he solicited it from a particular party. He wasn't doing another girl a favor or sending a another girl to Nationals who could not afford it. I don't really think he realized what he was doing was not right. I believe he believed that he thought it was right.

maybe the single mother's daughter was the worst on the team so if he transfered money to her it was for the bad of the team. maybe this girl was dragging down the team and his daughter the star.

First of all you need to leave his daughter out of this. She has done more than her share of canning, wreath sales and don't forget that only a few... girls (not many)went door to door passing out flyers in Woburn (for someone running for an office in that town). This person was running for office in Woburn and donated money to Dracut Pop Warner. Where was the President of the league.....Don't forget that the President DIDN'T go to Nationals, Brian did. Brian has always made sure the whole team goes to Nationals. Why doesn't everyone look at the parents they cause most of the problems behind every organization. Stop complaining and help. They cause more problems for the coaches; coaches are helping the girls to make it to Nationals. Look at the Football team for the past two years and how they received Jackets and Sweatshirts. The football team doesn’t support the cheerleaders but the girls get up every Sunday and cheer for them………

Rumor has it Mr. Martin was removed from the Board last night
