Scottie should be shot (Execution Style) and thrown into a dumpster where he belongs. People can say he had a tough life so what! Lost his mother? Karen Is a mother and she had no choice. Eye for n Eye. Im glad he is in jail and hope he rots for years before his death. Maybe one less murder will happen in cleburne because this kid is on the street. My heart goes out to Karens family. And to the people defending him are probably as lost/heartless as he is. I have no sympathy for him

Scottie was one of my students in junior high. I know teachers don't see a lot of what kids do, but what I saw was a good kid. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around this. I grieve for the person he could have been and for the boy I used to know because that boy was a great kid. I hadn't seen him since jr hi so I don't know what he was like, but it grieves me. I understand everyone's anger. We're all tired of gang violence, seeing good people suffer at the hands of criminals and having to pay for what criminals do so I understand the anger being expressed in these posts, but you fail to see the tragedy here. When (if) he pulled that trigger, he killed two people that day: that poor clerk and the person he could have been. The loss of even one teenager like this is unacceptable. I guess "the village" didn't do such a great job. This type of thing will keep happening if we don't do something to intervene in the lives of children like this who are not being cared for.

I also know scottie. he did not come off as tha person who you think would do something like diz!At least i neva thought he would!! My deepest sypathy goes out to the woman's family! my god help you find peace within yours selves and maybe even someday scottie!!! As for scottie i do believe he got what he deserved and i hope that he can somehow find peace within himself and ask God for forgivness!! What i heard about that night is simple. Scottie ran into the gas station, shot that lady in the head, tried to get the money but failed, then ran off. Sounds Cold blooded? Money obviously wasnt the motive. If he wanted the money he would have made her open the register first, before he shot her. From my knowledge the motive was: The lady that got shot had givin Scotties dad his third strike and got him life in prison. Her and scotties dad had gotten pulled over and there were drugs in the car. They got pinned on him. His dad got life in prison. So wouldnt you want revenge. Im not saying what he did was right, Im simply just giving a motive for what he did. Another Motive could be the gang issue. He was told in order to be in the gang ( called Flat Cats if im correct) he would have to kill someone. I actually feel sorry for him. Its all his Drug dealing brothers fault. Scottie was a normal kid but his brother changed him. Scottie was pretty normal while his mom was alive. His brother was still trying ti influence him but i believe scottie didnt give in to it for his mothers sake. Then tragically his mother died. So it was just Scottie and his brother. his is probably when his brother got a strong hold on scottie. After his mom died he probably gave in to all the Lies and bad influences his brother put forth in front of him...

Damn, he is 16yrs. old and was trying to fit in and he was desperate to do that he actually went too far to do so..Yeah, send him to prison and he will come out as a killer...Think about that. I know what he did was not right and he took someones family member or mother, but this kid needs some help along with some kind of punishment.

He is a murderer (according to the cops) and that's all we need to know.

He should be executed the same as we do rabid animals.

They don't mean to kill anyone, but they do; so, we kill them before they can kill anyone else.

His influence on him wasn't just his brother, uncle, or whatever...it was drugs. I had just talked to him before he did the horrendous thing. we talked about how they used to screw people over on drug deals and what not. he got influenced by the toxins running through his body. he had no "right mind" he's not going to die, he's sentenced to life...i love that kid...he was the cutest thing in the world...his life turned around in an instant..i hope he realizes that the people he used to look up to, really didn't care about him.=(

Prison will only hurt him more. Damn he had a bad life that dont excuse what he did. But he needs some support and alot of counseling. He has to live with taking someones life for the rest of his. That will haunt him forever. He needs some jail time but he needs a chance to be able to start his life all over again. He's only 16. And I don't know anyone in his family or him. But I just believe he didnt have a good role model in his life to show him the right way.

look i didnt know scottie personaly but i knew of him amd i knew karen burke. and let me tell you she did not deserve to die but neither does he. young boys tent to follow in the foot steps of there brothers for acceptance. karen was dating scotties dad and had him put in prison. so this was a refenge thing. and eye for and eye. dont judge him until you have walked in his shoes

I went to High School with Karen. I fall into the catagory that a life was ended for NO GOOD REASON. My mother deserted me and I didn't see her for 15 years. I did drugs years ago and commited minor crimes to support that habit, but I cleaned myself up and re-habilitated myself. You can make excuses all day long for someone that commits and horrible crime like this. Oh, he was so young and didn't have a good childhood. Oh well ! Alot of folks have bad childhoods, they don't walk into a store and pop someone in the head because of it. texas is famous for killing the animals for their crimes. Just one more to add to the list. I'll help push the buttons myself if they let me. By bye loser.

I agree with you 100% He is just a human like us all... I did not know him well but I did know his brother.. Everyone one makes mistakes, some just bigger than others, I know in my heart that justice will be served but there is no reason for people that do not know the family or his situation to be judging and posting hateful comments... What was done is done... Everyone needs love and support in this world no matter if you agree with his actions or not. Again I repeat... He is only human.
