Explosive level of gasses in Cedar Vale's sewer line lead to evacuations

Did you know she's blaming officer wayne for having to be closed down she says that the state didn't close her down that it was officer wayne who won't let her open up and she's blaming the city she says that its they're fault it got into the sewer system because there's crackes in it.....and she's not worried about it cause her insurance company will pay for all of it, what about the fines from KDHE? insurance don't pay for that.

she thinks nothing is ever her fault and she is miss perfect..Maybe she will get fined and bring her down a level or two but i doubt it.

She will never come down a level! But it was her tanks that leaked it is her fault, not the cities! And well they may pay for some of it for her, but good luck she is going to have a lot of fines, and I think that she needs to go! I would love to see her sell it to a new owner!

it is some of the citys fault if they did what they should they would not have bad swer lines with cracks in it and if they would of kept up on the lines like they should ther would not be gas in the line its both there faults

Well the problem is with that logic is that the sewage is not the problem it is the gas, and as for cracks in the pipes I have not heard anything about that, please show me proof of that! But one thing I know is there are a lot of rumors going around town, and no one is really setting them straight! And that is not a good thing, I think that if there were crack sewage would be in the soil from it leaking out. So if you know anything different please let me know, or are we all playing the guessing game? Or the rumor mill!

well i atmet i dont know for sure if there is a crack but its the only way i can think of the gas getting into the line so im not sayin there is or is not a crack in it

I just think that we know for sure she is at fault, and people are trying to say that the city is, but we have no proof on the cities part. So lets see what comes about, instead of playing the rumor mill lets see what comes from this, she may not be open after this because this will be costly! And I really hope we do not lose the gas station forever!

Wow. You all have a huge problem to deal with, instead of just bashing people why dont you try being proactive and supportive of eachother. I think you all need figure out how to get the families out of your park. Get ahold of support centers. I know the owner was not well liked but you all fight so much i dont think it would matter whos fault it was. I Hope everyone gets through this ok.

They went back and looked at her fuel records for the last two months and she admitted that she has known she had a leak for several months, that to me is blatant undeniable negligence on her part, they said at the meeting that the ground was so saturated that they would have to tear up that concrete and the road to haul off all the contaminated dirt, they are taking core samples right now to determine how wide an area is contaminated. They also said that the locker and the prairie kitchen are shut down until its all hauled off. The EPA guy at the meeting said from the owners fuel records it had leaked a substantial amount into the area. That Shortstop will be shut down for a long time they wont let her open back up till all the contaminated soil is removed. We all could have been killed because she ignored the problem instead of fixing it.

wow it would be nice if just one time i could get on this site and hear some solid facts instead of mudslinging. i would honestly like to know what is truly going on with this gas leak and all i am hearing is crap. not saying that the other stuff isnt true just can someone state the true facts about the gas leak and what is going on. did she know? is she at fault for covering this up or is that just another cv rumor? cmon i dont care for some things about the woman myself but can we get the facts not someones opinion clouded by thier hatred for her or by people who are kissing her ass? please?

why do we not try and help resolve the problem instead of bashing the laDY. She did not put a hole int the pipe on purpose so get off her case. You people bashing her should be praising her having a business in a ghost town. She employes people, pays taxes and provides a very valuable serve to the community. Paying taxes helps keep your city going, which is more than we can say for most people living here.

I just want to see a statement actually saying what happened? and how this has went on for so long, with out the state not knowing, and again if the rumors are true, like she said she has known for a couple months, weeks or anything then what is going to happen to her? A lot of people were affected by thins and a lot of peoples health and safety were affected, and well I just really want the records to be set straight by the city and state, and I want to take all the rumor mill away! I have heard so much of the rumors and yet I have not heard anyone (the city or state) say anything. The most we have heard about it is it was leaking. But I want to see a full detailed report when this is all done!

First off, put your name on here. If you are afraid to put your real name, you probably should not post whatever wild rumor your hearing. Honestly I found so many misspellings and grammar mistakes that obviously NONE of you are very highly educated and I'm sure none of you are specialist on this matter.
Secondly, how would you feel if I treated your children like you’re treating my mom? Obviously you don't like my mom, but that doesn't mean that you should post negative comments about her business without knowing ANY facts.

London I really want the facts I wish we could get the facts but what we do have is the fact that the tanks (pipes) were leaking gas, and anything above that I do not know what was going on, I have not heard your moms side of the story, but If you have more to the story to clear her then please enlighten us. And again I have stated that I want the fact and all I've heard was a lot of rumors, but as far as it coming from the short stop. That was in the news. So that is what I have and that is not a rumor. I get that it is your mom and you are going to stick up for her,but I also know that right now what the town actually knows is that it was her pipes leaking. So if that is not her fault then whose is it. Please tell us the facts,so then we can get rid of the rumors.

It is obiviously dry weather in all of Kansas.
So when the ground is dry, everything under it is.
The pipe right under pump 1 and 2 shrunk and caused a leak. It then got into the sewer system and caused the evacuations. If you would like to call that my mother's fault go ahead. But my opionion is that it is neither the cities or my Mom's fault. I'm sorry for all the inconvenience this has caused the whole town. But honestly it could of happend to anyone who owns a gas station.

The short stop will be open tommorrow and it will have fuel. So please stop by and let my mother know how much you appreciate her strongwill and will power for reopening after such a bad fortune.

That is very big of you London and very good you have held yourself very respectfully. And like I said I wanted to know the facts. Because all I have heard was rumors. And I do appreciate the short stop. Because it is a big convenience for gas and more. But it is hard to be a gas station owner unfortunately we can not control the weather. But as an owner unfortunately we are responsible for all the equipment. And the is really hard. So what I will say is I really hope she can make it though this hard time.

Who honestly gives a crap of whos fault it was. They got the problem fixed didn't they. And if you don't like the town of Cedar Vale then move on, there is not a damn thing there anyway no jobs and the school system sucks. The only people that live in that town are either on drugs or welfare.
