Here’s what I mean:
On TV they were interviewing a jobless couple whose house was in foreclosure. On the driveway was a Nissan. I shouted,“Guys, the Japanese thank you for jobs.” Ugh! Jobless Americans driving foreign cars...putting even more Americans out of work! Reality: the Japanese have been luring us for years. They give their vehicles American names. And incredibly, our media promote them for free! Plus they flood us with seductive ads. So no wonder we’re sucked in. As to their quality pitch, see the March ‘09 J.D. Power report: Buick at No. 1 tops Lexus, and Lincoln & Mercury are in top 5. Today, differences between Japanese and American, exist only in persons' minds influenced by media who push Japanese cars. Most media are BIASED. For years they’ve been touting Japanese cars and knocking American ones. Japanese dealers say:“Consumer Reports says, Edmunds says.” FOR FREE, these people help sell MILLIONS of Japanese cars. Their constant bashing of the Big 3 makes it a nightmare for them to compete with the Japanese. And because the Big 3 are such a major part of our economy, this costs us JOBS, JOBS, JOBS! But the Japanese say,“We give America jobs. We build cars here and hire Americans to build them.” Big deal! They assemble SOME here. Make people think:“They’re built here, they’re American.” HOGWASH! They’re Japanese! Foreign! And here’s more reality: MOST Japanese vehicles sold here are shipped from Japan. But no matter where they’re built or their parts come from, what really counts is where profits go. FACT: every year Japanese parent-corporations in Japan reap BILLIONS from vehicles sold in America. Yes, 31% of their income comes from us.(see Google) These billions help people in Japan, not us in America! We’re Japan’s cash cow! This, despite our almost 50 million people with no health care, 37 million in poverty, 12 million kids hungry each day, 77,000 bridges needing rebuilding, highways crumbling, inner-city schools deteriorating, and unemployment highest in 26 years. Considering all that, we let Japan milk us for billions? Can we build cars in Japan? Nope! In ‘08 they imported a puny 10,000 of ours. But they sold us 3 MILLION!!! Square shooters, NOT! They’ve even refused to buy apples from us! They’re fiercely loyal to their own products. They close their market to us but FEAST on us! And, oh, yes, the South Koreans are also parasites on our economy. They sell us 800,000 cars a year but buy only 6,000 of ours. At least the Germans, who build and sell cars here, buy lots of ours. So do the French, Spanish, Italians, British, Chinese, and South Americans. Yes, we build and sell cars almost everywhere but in Japan and South Korea. Another bummer: many GM, Ford, and Chrysler dealers have a conflict of interest. They also sell Japanese or Korean cars. So, they DON’T DO what THEY SHOULD DO that would sell lots more American cars, that is, push:“DRIVE AMERICAN!” This would help put many Americans back to work. Anyway, it’s estimated from “FOREIGN-CAR-I-TIS,” we’ve already lost a million jobs. And if we continue blind to this, estimates say up to 3 million more jobs will be lost. And some predict with trickle down it could be 4 million. As to the 375,000 or so jobs we get from the foreigners to assemble vehicles, well, if from that we lose 3-4 million jobs, that’s OK? And now with U.S. backing, GM and Chrysler are becoming stronger. Even so, the Japanese and Koreans are circling vultures hoping to devour the 100 year industry we created. Shall we continue helping them? NO! NO! Let’s back the new GM and Chrysler, as well as Ford, which on its own is strengthening. For two months now, Ford has outsold Toyota. Finally, we’re starting to smell Japanese manure! Support America’s economy! DRIVE AMERICAN! "God bless America, land that I love, stand beside her...." |

I own 2 chevrolets but from what I have been told recently most the parts in them are made overseas and shipped here to america where they put together my "American Made car". Next vehicles for me will be the ones with a 10 year warranty. Obviously the "American Made Vehicle" is full of foreign parts anyway so I am sorry but I can't buy your argument and in the future I will be looking for the best deal for MMMMMMEEEEEEEE.

BV,
Suggest you reread what I wrote about profits....where they end up, what country and people get the benefits from them. Japan takes 2 billion in profits a year out of America. This helps the people of Japan, not us in America. Last year in return, because of the restrictions they put on us in Japan, we could only sell 10,000 cars there. They shut the door on us. They believe in fair trade everywhere but in Japan. |

The beauty of a free country is you can buy what you want. I drive a Toyota, made in Kentucky, by Americans.

Driving American doesn't guarantee it's American at all. Many of our "beloved American" car companies have had deals with foreign autos for years. They'll build 2 identicals cars and simply have 2 different names. IE- many Ford and Mazda cars are identical twins; just different names. And I've driven Ford, Chevy, and Dodge that clearly have parts made in China, etc. The reality is our American companies sold us down the river long ago. They are the ones (not just foreigners) that got greedy and said to hell with the American consumer. You want to buy American then stay out of Wal-Mart! Those bastards have been screwing over their workers and consumers for years. But everyone wants cheap crap to indulge their materialistic mindset. The Chinese are in control of Wal-Mart and many other "American" companies. At least we know the Japanese and Koreans are on our side if the sh*t hits the fan. The Chinese could very well be that sh*t hitting us! |
