When is the mayor,code enforcement officer going to do something about some of the filthy properties and trash that live in them? Plus to the ignorant residents who display rebel flags on there homes this is the 21st century the south lost the civil war in 1865 get a life same thing for the kids that ride atv s and other offroad vehicles on the streets get that crap off the streets up here got it!

the valley is full of rednecks who proudly display the flag its about heritage NOT HATE!!! If the confederate flag offends you read your history books and see what it stands for. as for houses not being well kept you have that in every neighborhood. trust me go into any pittsburgh city neighborhood and you will see much much much worse.

The confederate flag stands for a portion of our country's past that stood for the upholding of slavery. This particular flag was appointed due to the fact that the original flag of the confederacy looked too much like the Stars and Stripes (and was named the Stars and Bars...original huh?). The original design was taken from the Cross of St. Andrew, which is the official flag of Scotland. Being proud to be a southerner is fine, but that flag stands for what is still wrong with this country, and there are people in this country who still believe in those disgusting "southern values". So valley man, wanna debate? I'll bury you just like the North buried the South...

I do see the point of the person who lives on Decker St. Decker St was always one of the nicest streets in the mounds area. Maybe the nicest. Now I divide it in my mind as upper and lower Decker with Hillman St being the diving line. The portion closest top the Mounds is still well kept and nice. The upper portion is not. Pretty trashy.

It's frustrating with folks do nothing about taking care of the area where they live (renting is no excuse for not taking care of things). Obviously this effects the property value of those taking care of their property in a negative fashion. These situations should be enforced but the cities code enforcement "department" is a joke. As for ATV riding? As we know that is a police issue. I say make the fine so steep it will deter riding ATV's in the street.

Responding to the comment about "all neighborhoods" have this, go to Pittsburgh and see. That author needs to go to Pittsburgh and not return. Since when does it make it right to see property values destroyed just because some low budget trashy family cares less and does what they want(and Mon City has more than enough of these folks)?

I read on here all of the time about how bad Mon City is and how there are run down properties blah blah blah? Reading the post that basically says oh well just deal with it sums it up the mentality of more than a few.

Peoples ignorance in either their actions or thoughts is an extremely difficult thing to over come.

why dont u go try and tell that to everyone around here with a confederate flag proudly displayed at their house and see how long you last before you get decked or a gun pulled on you. I'm guessing you are a tree hugging communist cough cough i mean democrat whos eyes are closed to freedom of speech, freedom of expression and people being proud of who they are. I'm not saying I dont respect your opinion, but these people have theirs too and in this case I'm on their side.

FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION??? So I guess burning a cross in your yard is ok if that's how one chooses to express themselves? How about running around naked? I guess that should be permitted to because I love my body?

When your "freedom of expression" is an expression that condones hate, racism, bigtory, prejudice or any other negative connotation within todays society it should be permitted regardless of what one believes.

What do you know about Decker St? You live in Geary St in that run down old green house. You also have a vacant lot on Lincoln.

Actually I'm a registered Republican who stands for accountability and doing the right thing! I also believe that if you despise this country so much as to desecrate our flag, like the idiot with the white truck that took the american flag and replaced the stars with the cross, then you need to move to Canada...

I love america and a registered republican too. I also respect the flag as well as the confederate flag but would never replace our flag with the confederate. i know exactly which truck your talking about i completely agree with u. completely wrong
