David S. was a friend of my family and will be missed. He was very, very giving and took care of people so his actions are not surprising. I wish things had worked out differently obviously.

I wish things had worked out differently obviously. Thank you for refocusing me on the real topic at hand. Which is a life lost. I'm sorry for the loss of your friend while he was trying to help out another human in need. We need more people like him! God bless his soul and his family and friends.

i agree that in this case it was a crime of passion and nothing could have stopped it. i am sure the guy will never get out of prison. however- i need to say to dfc....that it has nothing to do with population....the usa has a much higher MURDER RATE than those other countries. so when you take population into account it is still far more crime here.

My heart goes out to the family of Mr. Stoneback. I knew Wayne and he was one of the nicest guys you ever wanted to meet, he would do anything to help a person in need even his girlfriend / exgirlfriend Dawn . Dawn has been dangling men from her web for years. I don't know what she has that other women don't? Wayne is a family man who loved his children , grandkids and Dawn . She loved him one day and not the next, men she had many but always found a way to get back into Waynes life.

Doug was also my cousin. As Chris said, he was coming home this weekend to visit. I can't believe it is now under these circumstances, due to such a heinous, senseless crime. Doug will be missed and honored as he should be this weekend. I always knew my family was incredible, kind and giving...to that we can now add HERO as well. Peace with you Doug, in Heaven you now dwell...

I didn't know Dave long but I just had to say "thanks for all the laughs" and for being such a man of honor at your final moments! I was shocked to hear of Dave's death and hope and pray that his children will always know that he loved them! He was a great guy who made people laugh! God Bless him and his family!

Doug's Uncle leased a cabin up on the Hudson. We spent a week up ther one summer, drinking all of Uncle's beer..... The cabin had a sign on the wall that Doug liked. "When I leave this good old world to join the angel band, I hope that things will turn out well and I'll always be on hand, and if the lord is good to me he is a generous giver,he will lay me in the Roost to live down on the Hudson River." Welcome home "Moneback" we are going to miss you.

I’ve known Doug for 35 years. He was a great guy from a great family with beautiful children. He was a brave, generous, fun, loyal and intelligent person. We have been robbed of a great friend, and we will miss him forever.

I've known Doug since I was 13 yrs old. He and his brother were my guitar teachers, and soon after became my employers.. but were always my friends. Doug always treated me like family, whether it was pounding on me like a little brother, or giving fatherly advice. Over the past few years he has popped in and out of my life. He would show up at random and it was like he was never gone- and when he was not around I always knew I would see him again at some point... but not this time I suppose. Wayne Prinkey has stolen the life of a good man and may he burn in hell for it. The thoughts and prayers of my family, my friends and myself are with the Stoneback family and all who love them. Good-bye Doug, you were a dear friend and I will miss you very much.

I think Doug was alot of things to alot of people. I have read all of the comments here and I guess my message to anyone here is that one thing we can learn from Doug is that sometimes life is way too fucking short and one way to leave a legacy is to make memories with your friends and family every chance you get. I am lucky to have a lot of great memories of Doug. Doug was Big in every sense of the word, he ate big, drank big, laughed big, loved and lived big. Right now, I will not think of the jerk off that killed him, and the way doug died. I want to think about the way doug lived.
