As Chris Knox (15 years old) wrote an opinion post to this article, Gangs did not start in Havasu. Boredom and lack of teen level activities have led to kids pretending to be in gangs. This is what happens when elderly fun a city government and believe children should be seen but not heard. This type of attitude is small in thinking.

MC...The folks of Havasu better start looking at the real problems here and its not gangs...Go to ca. there are gangs...not some dumb kids doing something like the crap that happened a while back...we need full time mayor and city council to move Havasu forward... its the summer people first then snowbirds that bring money here...we have some growing up to do in Havasu...

Havasu is already in jeapordy of many summer visitors not coming this year due to the Police and Judicial situation. I have read on many boating sites that there is a possible memorial day boycott in the works to protest the speed trap mentality of Havasu and it money hungery Judge.

This type of attitude is small in thinking. Sorry. I don't agree with this line of thinking. Just because you are bored doesn't mean you have to STAY bored. If you have any sense of right and wrong and brains between your ears you can always find something to do without joining a gang. While I believe that it is the parent's responsibility to see to it that kids have things to do, I think it is simply trying to pawn off one's personal responsibility on others to excuse joining a gang with 'Well, I was bored.'

By the time those gangs start vandalizing the neighborhood and terrorizing school kids; it's become more than you can easily handle. I see the signs all the time in our neighborhood. And it's funny but maybe you should look at who's really not interested in doing anything. MAYBE it's not the cops at all but your city council. Cops were telling our council we had problems for years but the council really didn't start to act until they started getting citizen complaints.

Maybe it would be a good idea to get an Arizona law passed that makes it serious punishable crime to be a member of a criminal street gangs. (note I didn't just say any gang; any group of kids can be classified as a gang)

there are no gangs in Havasu. There a kids who play dress up and do what kids have for as long as there have been kids and think themselves cool for getting away with it. Saying the word "gang" gets federal funding for the police. Sorry you do not agree Dinah. That is what makes America a great place to live.

At the end of it, I DID specify the difference between a bunch of kids going around together having fun and criminal street gangs. There is a BIG difference.

Denial? Denial? Are you kidding? The cops in this town are more into stopping spring-breakers from showing their tits that looking into gangs. Now if someone spends their money to look into the gangs in the form of a grant, then the city will look into gangs. Hell I live hrer and see it all the time.

I agree that the local police are far more interested in fleecing money from our tourist than it is in enforcing any other law. That said, the ones where federal money accompanies an arrest are on the second tier of enforcement. Those items like gang enforcement and Domestic Violence are high (not highest) piority due to things like VOCA grants.

Mr. Morales.
You have been caught in the newspaper's attempt to rehabilitate the poor image of Havasu Justice.
Please take a moment to tell us you side of the story. Please be VERY aware that the police in Havasu have officers assigned to scour the web to put out misinformation to avert the rightfully earned image. I do not want you to say something that they could use against you. Then again, actually violating a law has never been a cause for arresting anyone in Havasu.
So, please tell us you story.
Feel free to post all you want on the story's on Topix. You have a unique point of view and MCJW would appreciate to hear it. Also, register to vote, get you friends to register to vote. The council will jump through hoops if they believe they are about to be recalled, but will not lift a finger if they feel thier seats are safe.

Ha..alright this goes out to all the fake news. This is the true version of what was supposed to be published. CID was nothing but a Crew, its not a GANG, its not affiliated with any Sureno gang from S. Cali., CID was started in August 07..not October..it was just a crew to mess around with because this town got so boring of the same thing..we needed something new. Then days months passed and in September Victor A Zayas drew graffiti on the bathroom stall which appears in the video. By that fact we were arrested two weeks later on October 15. The "gang task force" knows about this but dosent notify anyone. When we were arrested..me and Victor we were suspended 9 days from school and we received a police referral..court charges took place.
Later in the year..in December 19..two guys egged 3 vehicles and they broke one window..yes i was the one videotaping, which made me get charges too.
During winter break i had alot of footage on camera and i decided to make a video altogether from all i had, so i tweaked it a little and i just named it CID since i didnt have any other name..the video got famous and it had over 4000+ views and that was what got us caught.
On January 8, 2007 3 guys from the LHHS were arrested. 2 guys from Thunderbolt Middle School and 1 that did not attend school.
Victor A. Zayas was arrested again for the same crime..due to the fact that police didnt recognize that, that had taken place back in October and he is in the Mohave County Jail since he is 18. That is considered as Double Jeopardy because hes charged again for the same act he did in September. I have proof that Victor committed that crime in September because i too was the one that videotaped him during the act.
Due to what the newspaper says. It says Mauricio Morales - 4 counts of crminal damage. I only have 3. 1.Vandalism at the park 2.Criminal Damage at School on Vehicle (since i was there when it ocurred) 3.Criminal Damage at School on Vehicle again.(since i was there when it ocurred)
Lake Havasu News Herald took this story into making it look like a murder scene in LA or PHX..lets remember that we are in Lake Havasu and CID was not a GANG. just a crew. The news herald as always publishes stories that are really off..so if you want to make something true in the paper make sure you know what you are talking about before you make a racial article about 6 hispanics getting arrested.
