My condolences to the family of this poor young child. Drunk driving is a horrible thing... however, are the parents not in the least responsible for allowing this child to be laying in a backseat without a seatbelt? I'm glad that this driver is being prosecuted, as I believe what he did was a horrible offense and he should be punished as such... however, I'm not sure that ALL of the blame should be placed on him... the parents should be held accountable for something.

I am sure they are living with their own guilt.

This is a friend of my daughters and I believe that enough hurt has been done without comments like this. I think prayer for both families expecially Joshua's is what is needed at this time, not blame shifting. The parents are dealing with enough, they do not need to be held accountable for anything, they have just lost their baby! What one of us have not had our children out of a seat belt while driving at one time or another.

I can honestly say that I've never been irresponsible enough to not have my child in a seatbelt at ALL times. I won't even start the car until she's in a seatbelt... maybe it's the way I was raised!
I'm not saying that it was THEIR fault that the car got hit or anything else and I do feel for them for losing their child... however, if the child had BEEN in a seatbelt (as the law requires!) then perhaps he wouldn't have suffered the injuries that eventually killed him. I think that the drunk should rot in jail for the rest of his life.. but I also think that the parents should at the very least get a stern talking to about having a child in a seatbelt... cuz apparently they weren't aware of the dangers or even of the law. As for praying for the family, I do... I feel for them greatly. No parent should deal with that.

My thoughts and prayers go out to this family. It's a terrible thing to have happened and I'm glad they caught the guy. Such a young life, taken so soon, with so much potential.. I really feel for them. And as for the parents not belting the kid in, that's something that they'll have to live with for the rest of their lives... I think they have suffered enough. My deepest condolences to all involved.
