How funny, GOP can't stand anyone other than themselves. What a bunch of poisoned tongues like Limbaugh, Perry and other really dumb bums. Senator Craig was a republican pervert. There are plenty in their ranks. That is why GOP likes to have either angry old men or dumb jocks, cheerleaders like Perry who use government money like their personal ATM and bank account.

So what if Shapleigh want to have a personal life, that is no one's business (especially flaming busy bodies). Get a life.

Thank you Senator Shapleigh for those great years of service. Thank you for getting rid of the creationist Don McLeroy as SBOE chairman.

Ummm.... Senator John Ensign R-NV, R-SC Governor Mark Sanford, Tom Delay R-TX, Larry Craig R-ID, so on and so on. No one party or religious group has a claim to be more moral than the other. I find that you have the nerve to claim that "liberals" are immoral highly entertaining. Education and cultural experience much? I'm guessing not.

The biggest joke of the day is the mayor stating he would run for senator but since he has 61 per cent of the constituents, he must serve as mayor. He is still pushing that spin. How can he possibily have 61 per cent of the city when only 14 per cent voted? That is sad, when he starts believing his own spin.

He has been watching the Godfather movies, once too many times. You know the part, when the Godfather is angry that he is being pulled back into the business just when he was out.

The GOP is in control in Texas, thank goodness, otherwise the state would look like it's sewer(El Paso). You get nowhere when you constantly have your hand out, begging for more and more welfare.

All public offices should be limited to 1 term only per person. In allowing people to be re-elected, they have a much higher chance of becoming corrupt and promoting corruption.

- Presidents - 1 term
- Senators - 1 term
- Reps - 1 term
- Judges - 1 term
- Council reps - 1 term
- Sheriffs - 1 term
etc.

This is one way to keep all these crooks honest. When people make a career of public service, it is not because of the high salary. It is because of all the non-reported benefits that they receive. Favors for friends. Things like NAFTA (Bill making $11M in order to make NAFTA go through).

Limit public office to 1 term and things will change

Think about it. They use their whole first term making friends with people who they will make deals with during follow-on terms. No second term will limit this.

I'm thinking I could easily run and make more sense then these goofballs we have representing us. At least I have a few degrees and some common sense and no special interests.

People don't even have to vote for you. You run for an office that is usually uncontested in a district with no participation. Once you are in you get a few nutballs to follow you. Every year the same goofs vote for you. No one else gets in.

I know nothing about public office or politics, but I do know that normal people have common sense.

Common sense tells me that Limiting all public offices to 1 term will address people's greed.

No B.S., but as soon as you are elected, your primary focus is to make friends and promises + figure out how to get elected for follow-on terms.

Once you are part of the club, you can do what you want.

You first get in through a crappy district where no one gives an F about what goes on. From there you move around.

I'd be happy to talk to that guy from the paper. He'd probably be disappointed, but I'd have some fun with him.

"Helped get funding for roads, helped get funding for Medical Center, helped get funding for UTEP, helped to regulate colonias....and so on. "

GIVE THE TIRELESS WORKING TAXPAYER CREDIT FOR THAT!!!

I am sick and tired of politicians getting 'credit' for how efffectively they can steal from those who work and produce.

And puleeze - on the roads - that is done by TxDot, and if he did anything special it was just to rip off the taxpayers and folks in other parts of the states to get contracts for his friends.

I do not believe he is telling the truth as to why he is stepping down. If he gave a flip about his family he would have worked on his marriage. Now he wants to spend time with his new bimbo/wife? sure.

Matter of fact El Paso is #7 in the top 10 cities with the highest poverty levels.....and guess what all the top 10 cities have in common?
All run by Democrats.
Hmmmmmmmmm????
And they are for the poor huh?
What a freaking joke.
The joke is on the poor, they keep voting these idiots back into office thinking they are going to get something for nothing (welfare)and sell their own souls so they can stay home and watch soap operas and eat cheetos all day long.
The Democrats are for the poor allright.
To keep them enslaved and vote the Crats back into office.
End of story.
Now if we can just elect someone else, any one else to REPLACE Reyes, WE can throw both of these bums out the door. Power to the people.
