The South Carolina Hunting and Fishing Amendment, also known as Amendment 1, is a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment. If enacted, the measure would allow residents in the state the right to hunt and fish. Although South Carolina residents have this right, the measure was proposed in order to solidify that right, according to proponents.

A "YES" vote will make it a constitutional right for citizens to hunt and fish and will permit the State to legally provide for proper wildlife management and the protection of private property rights.

How will you vote on November 2nd?

I grew up in a Free Range state where hunting was a right. So much so that a permited hunter could hunt on any public or private land that was not posted "No Hunting." With respect to property rights, all a landowner had to do was post "No Hunting" on their land and hunters respected that. There were never any problems.

I remember as a kidd 16,and up leaving the house at Sunrise with a gun on my shoulder. Walking a few blocks through city streets to get to the country. I remember walking fields and crossing farm land throuh Sunset hunting. Covering countless acres and distance in hunting. I had no problem with farmers coming up to me and telling me I couldn't hunt. I was respectful to there property and animals. In the few years I hunted up there like that I was kicked of some land one time. Only to find out the guy that kicked me off wasn't the owner. Just another hunter that was upset that I was moving into his area.

Those days are over with

The right to hunt already exists. So don't clutter an 1894 Constitution with more clutter and who knows what added cost. I thought we wanted less government!!

My first thought was that too. We already have the right to hunt, the right to bear arms. What is there to change.

who ever proposed this most likely does not hunt or fish, why spend any time or money on it, instead appropriate more money for dnr agents in the state to control poachers and theives who rob us of legal limits.

This must be a way for the government to collect more funding! It sounds like they (the leadership) will use this vote to add a tax or hire more friends.

There isn't enough written on the measure to know!!

I voted no. The term "right" is way overused. And from my reading of the amendment it doesn't really appear to accomplish anything. Doesn't belong in the state constituion.

What is the purpose of this amendment? I thought we all had the right to hunt? Maybe this could get rid of the need for a license since everyone will have the right? Does anyone have any more info on this amendment?

I am truly surprised hunting/fishing is still a valid issue, the state must make a nice chunk of change off you guys handling the vermin over populations for them. And no im not anti hunter or anti animal but most of what the hunters PAY to hunt and eat or whatever are classified by the state as "vermin",I.E taking up space that could be used for valuable stuff like new taco bells or cash for gold stores.Im guessing this law is going to somehow make being the state's paid orkin man a bit more pricey, after all you are saving on food and wall decorations and they can't be having that.

There is one thing I wish South Carolina would do.Let your hunting or fishing license go from the date you purchased them and not by the end of June.If I want to fish today I have to pay $35.00 and then pay it again at the end of June or pay for a 7 day pass.Com e on SC change the dates.Sure would appreciate it alot,At least check into it.Happy Hunting and Fishing.I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way.You will still get a year no matter how you look at it.Com e on all you sportsman stand by me and lets get this changed.

When you have the right to hunt and fish, there should be no reason to to reaffirm a right, unless that right is being attacked by anti-hunting or -fishing groups.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Sagittarius

Relationships have been going through through testing times since the Solar Eclipse at last month's New Moon in Gemini on May 20. Events may force you to reevaluate the state of a partnership. You may even decide that you need to make some major adjustments if things are to carry on as you would like. During the coming fortnight leading up to the rare second New Moon in Gemini, this may feel like a crisis, but that doesn't mean you should abandon all hope or throw out the baby with the bathwater.
