Tell me, would you for a second take some one seriously if they posted on this board and said "May the celestial tea pot bless you"? No, I don't think you would. Praying is not going to help the child at all, what will? People going out and actively doing some thing to help clean up their neighbour hoods, educating their children, education people about proper animal husbandry, rather then coping out and talking to the air.
Stupid? Religion sums that word up lovely, and allot of the posts from that camp prove it well. A dog is simply a fellow organism, yet you have people here who view the fellow life form as they would a piece of every day property, or they give it insane characteristics like evil, from he!l, and such demented concepts. A big dose in reality is long since due to thoughs types.
Ok listen i am well aware that you don not believe in the power of prayer but let me state one thing, no one should question anyones faith. PERIOD
I for one, just like my husband, pray for that little boy and all the other unfortuate children in the world every night before I go to bed. And it won't hurt to pray. THATS WHAT MY CELESTIAL TEAPOT TELLS ME

Look folks...I gotta tune out for the evening. We had some torrential downpours here in WNY today. So, I had the great pleasure of entertaining myself all day. On a more serious note, I am going to say some prayers for that little boy tonight....Regardless of what somebody elses opinion is on GOD. It certainly can't hurt. God bless that Boy....Good Night Folks :)~ Buck Manning
You are right, it can't hurt, but the nergy could be better used.

well 1st off God is a spiritual being we pray for God's will in our lives that we will do what is right we study his word and apply it to our lives now just like everywhere on this earth we do have hipocrits in our faith that abuse it for their own selfish will.
but we allow God to deal with them in his time
when we pray for the child we pray that God will give him the strength to recover from all his injuries both physical and emotional
as well we pray for the surgeons that are performing the operation on the child that God will guide them through the surgery successfully. for everything we go through be it good or bad we acknowledge him to receive his grace and his mercy. you see "we walk by faith and not by sight"
I just ask when you have some time that you read his word

What is the definition of faith? It's in the Bible, Hebrews 11:1, TLB. "What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead."

Faith is trusting God in everything. It's in the Bible, Hebrews 10:38, TLB. "And those whose faith has made them good in God's sight must live by faith, trusting Him in everything. Otherwise, if they shrink back, God will have no pleasure in them."

Actually as a fellow life form I have every right to question your logic and what ground you base your world model on, just as you have every right to do the same. Faith deserve no free ride & has earned no free ride. If you actually put action to making this world better then no, praying will not hurt, but if thats the only thing you do, then yes it is hurting, because rather then taking action, your just moving air in lieu of taking action.

I already tried to explain to him how he should respect peoples faiths. It doesn't work.
Faith of all things is the least deserving of respect, it is the glorification of ignorance. It is believing that that has no evidence or logic to back it up.

The Wacko Cult had faith, So did the German people in 1934, so do the terrorists, This is why it is paramount to question it, but to demand people critically think about it! If their belief is so certain then they should not fear questioning it.

If you go back a ways in the posts, I think when you and Buck first started at it, I pretty much said the same thing to him. He doesn't care about respecting peoples choices and peoples religion. Instead because he doesn't believe me mocks which I think is disrespectful! I am not a religious person but I respect others who are. Buddy can't seem to do that which I think speaks volumes about his character.
I believe that is the POWER OF PRAYER
because I was getting caught up in that situation with Buck and was just about to drop down to that level but I believe through prayer and my faith Buck and I remained and became civil as well as mature
Buck said to me also that he enjoyed getting the best of people like me all worked up
but I thank you for speaking up when you did

You assume I haven't read the bible? Oh I have and I see it for what it is, a 2000 year old fairy tail who's authors did the best they could at explaining the world with the knowledge they had available, the bible was actually 44 or so books added into one at a later date, and each author injected their personal subjective philosophy into it, and his prejudices.

That definition is just a color full way of saying, "I have no way to prove it to you but you should believe it any way".

I'm a veteran at debating this stuff, I know all the justifications all the fallacies, The bible has more holes in it then a cheese grater, You read that book from cover to cover, you don't skip a line, read it a few times over and let it soak in. More you look at it the more you will see how sick, twisted and immoral that book really is.

A good start look up the sceptics annotated bible.

All so go here, you'll learn allot more then you probably want to about your religion: http://www.thedebatehour.com/index.php

BTY: I'd be so insulted as a surgeon hearing that, all the effort they put in to learning the science of biology, all the scientists who researched biology needing your god to help them do their job? That's spiting in the face of all their hard work, all their effort, all their passion.

naw your wrong scripture say Faith without works is dead so we pray and we take action
by lobbying for better housing programs as well as creating those programs by collectively giving of our resources with is our time, gifts, and talents
you should do like a lot of us need to do read up study the topic we are about to discuss or in your case degrade so that when you speak you speak from knowledge and not ignorance
I can say that from experience
its always best to know something about what your talking about
or like in your case you sound like a fool but that's okay because rumor has it that God looks after babies and yep you guessed it FOOLS
and I am praying that he won't bypass YOU!!!!

I am a civilized human being, a good mother to my children a good wife to my husband, i am not selfish in any way, I remember the misfortuned and if I could, I would do more to help, but my god tells me to pray for the unfortunate, I can not save the world, nor am I trying to make the world believe in my faith. I am stating that there is nothing that can make me a better person then how I live my life. I care for my children, my family and I will never question ones faith like you do and I would appreciate it if you just stop. No one hear is bashing you for not having faith. You know my mom used to say you have to believe in something or you'll fall for anything. So with that statement made, tell me how dumb are you?

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Aquarius

Avoid making promises today, or even believing in other people's promises. Today is not a good day to make commitments, as they are not likely to materialise. Taking risks is a no-no. Try to relax until the numbers are in your favour. Those pursuing their career will benefit.
