Now now. All of this fear manufacturing and confusion will lead people to drive all over the place, or call all around, and worry themselves so that they forget that they do not have a job anymore. Most work places have a no fault attendance policy, meaning if you miss for whatever reason it still counts against you. To some this could mean losing their job.

Kroger had flu shots available at the end of August. I got mine on Labor Day (over a month ago). I am not surprised that stock is now running low. Manufacturers are focusing on H1N1.

Neither our family physician nor pediatrician had the vaccine available so we called Walgreens. The one by us did not have it so they referred us to another location. Bingo.

Our pediatricians office has some flu shots left, but guess what... if your child has medicaid (mine is special needs), you can't get the shot!!! They are saving the shots for non-medicaid kids. A little backwards!

I had my flu shot done at the Georgesville Kroger a few days ago (Thursday, I think?) and they had plenty then.

Our Rx card even covered most of the cost of it - it cost us $5.01 out of pocket, but even without insurance, it's only $25. For us, getting it done there made more sense than going to the doctors office and paying a $15 copay.

Dude, if you are infected with the H1N1 you are contagious from 1 day prior to having symptoms to 7 days after starting to have symptoms. So 2 days is not going to cut it! I work at OSU medical center and that is what they are telling everyone. Wear a mask if you have symptoms. Atleast stay home till the fever subsides. I do understand that some people would get fired so I guess their fellow employees are screwed! Don't worry, if you contract H1N1 you may not even have symptoms but you can still spread it around. Long story short, don't worry just be cautious. Don't lick the door handles or water coolers at work!

As "Contagious for 7" said, tests have shown that infected adults can be contagious for 7 days or longer and children for up to 3 weeks. A few doctors believe it can be spread as long as the infected individual continues to cough. I don't know why the CDC isn't more forthcoming with this information - you can find the info. at their website but they aren't really putting it out to the public. Possibly they don't want to face the backlash from schools and employers by recommending longer isolation periods.
"Contagious" is also right that many people are going to return to work and make others ill. H1N1 is more contagious the seasonal flu which is itself quite contagious. Unfortunately, "Don't lick the door handles or water coolers at work" isn't going to help you avoid the flu. It's spread primarily through the coughs and sneezes of infected individuals, so unless you are wearing an N95 mask, you're out of luck. Handwashing does help keep you from contaminating your eyes and nose with the virus but the airborne route in the main means of acquiring the infection.

I'm 13 weeks pregnant and I'm having a hard time finding a flu shot. I was told to wait until 12-13 weeks to get the shot. Most places are saying that they don't have any more or they have limited hours that the shots are given. Most places are being told they will not get the next round of shots until the beginning of November, however my local Wal-Mart told me to call back tomorrow because they may be getting an early shipment. On a related topic my doc also told me to wait a week between the seasonal flu shot and the H1N1 shot. Hope this helps someone.

Well then, would you know of anyone who does have the flu shots available.
