I looked it up online, Ask.com says Hopalong Cassidy from 1949 was the first one, I was way off in my last post.

I remember Wild Bill Hickok when I was a young tike,(Guy Madison and Andy Devine) had the commercial of Sugar Corn Pops. 1951
