Two days ago I pulled on to Lake Mansfield Drive in GB from Christian Hill, and standing in the road were 1/2 doz grey-colored deer, who then became very agitated and started running back and forth across the road and into the woods. I've seen lots and lots of deer (I'm from NJ), but have never seen deer this color. Is it a different species or a stage in their development up here in the Berkshires?

It probably was a wolf. They are here and the state knows it and i think they have a name for them whenever they admit that they are here. I have seen many of them around here in south berkshire. I have also seen a few mountain lions and the state will not admit that they are here either. BUT THEY ARE HERE TO STAY!!!

Sunday night - Oct 11 at around 11pm. Driving on Mt Washington Rd up the mountain, near Jug End Rd in S. Egremont, a very large grey/white canine which my passenger and I both agreed was a wolf cantered across the road right in front of us, in big leaping strides, and then back to the other side. Our headlights illuminated him perfectly: thick, full coat, powerful chest and legs, large head. We've seen plenty of coyotes, and this was NO coyote. It seems other MT W residents have seen wolves over the years, so it was exciting to see something so wild and beautiful with my own eyes. I hope it doesn't get hit by a car or eat someone's pet or kid, but I am glad to share the mountain with him (or her.)

There are wolves in Berkshire County beyond a shadow of a doubt. I saw 2 grey wolves at the top of Rt 20 in Hancock not long ago.
