Way back in the late 70s, working as an egg-picker at Decoster's Eggs Farms was my first job (other than paperboy). I still have nightmares about this place. No, not giant chickens, monstrous bosses and birds squawking for help...
We pushed wobbly carts with our thighs down the endless rows of cages, allowing us to pick eggs with both hands. We could reach two levels of cages to the left and right. I can't recall how many cages were stacked above these... those were picked by elevated, powered carriages.
the decomposing bodies, the manure pits beneath the cages and the half-naked (from constant irritation) birds would gag a Marine.
They routinely fed INSECTICIDE to birds, mixedd it right into their feed, so that it 'dropped' down into the manure heaps to keep the the swarms of flies down.
Speaking of flies, remember the 'ladybug' outbreaks? The insects were introduced to eat maggots and got WAY out of control!
Ohhh, and the trailers where human beings were being 'housed' were pitiful, to say the least. The rent on these dumps contributed to what amounts to human traficking and slavery. The owners have continuously hid behind Christianity and gotten away with numerous crimes.
I am soooo gratified to see this action, but we must remember- it has happened before. A little well-placed money and some 'reorginization' is all it took for this nasty greed-tard to stay in business, exploiting humans and animals.
As for the poor excuse that people need jobs: there could be many jobs created by raising animals decently.

I don't know why it says I am from Ohio, I've never been there. I live in Starks, Maine.
The bosses at Contract Farming and Quality Egg have promised to go after the whistle-blower and charge him with theft (of the pitiful wages he was offered). Please pass this along. Any egg boxes numbered with 1182 or 1183 (there are probably more) are from this hell-hole.
Several years ago we picketed the facility due to inhumane treatment of HUMANS. Workers from Mexico were transported here by Decoster and housed in rotting trailers without basic needs...
Church groups would traffick their children to work there back in the day...

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Virgo

If the past few days have been a blur of cooking, washing up and wrapping paper, take a break today and catch up with loved ones. Have a long talk with one of them so you can find out what they've been doing lately, or discuss a topic that concerns both of you. Right now, you're blessed with plenty of diplomacy so the conversation should go well.
