Murray State University will be on the map in 2010, that is because President Barack Obama has planned a visit to the university to express gratitude for the efforts made by MSU officials and the English Department to utilize his book, DREAMS OF MY FATHER during the Freshmen Reading Experience in 2007.

The Freshmen Reading Experience at Murray State is an initiative to encourage new freshmen to read one novel during their first year in college. It has been mandated by university officials that ENG 101, 102, and 104 classes use the FRE book as part of the curriculum.

David Gallimore, a senior communications student from Birmingham, KY got to interview President Obama on behalf of Dr. Dunn and MSU. Here is a clip of Obama announcing his possible visit to MSU in 2010 and even a "Go Racers!" at the end.

From Dreams of My Father: I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.

I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.

It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.

I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself: the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.

From Audacity of Hope: I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

Ahh, so I'm a prick because I dont want to read a book by a man I didnt vote for, dont support, and dont believe in. Its garbage to me because I dont believe in the person who wrote it. Just like I'm sure your Left Wing Democrat self wouldnt want to read a book by Sean Hannity or Glen Beck, and you would think they were garbage. Just like a typical Democrat, quick to judge and flame because I'm not a Liberal sheep like yourself.

You're pretty quick to judge yourself if you think I wouldn't read Glen Beck's book. In fact, I would like to read it and I plan on borrowing a copy from a friend of mine. You're also pretty quick to judge seeing as you called me "Left Wing Democrat" and a "Liberal sheep" when you don't even know me. And reading Obama's book might give you a different perspective of the man - but I guess it couldn't be because you've already made up your closed mind about him, could it?

Yep, Ive already made up my mind about him. Did that early in his campaign actually. I didnt like what he represented or stood for, and I was pretty sure that he would be the wrong choice for America. Now that he has been elected and spent some time in office, Im even more convinced.
Now, the way you were quick to call me a prick and quick to defend him, tells me that you are in fact a Liberal Democrat. I highly doubt any Conservative would jump on the Obama bandwagon. So, am I wrong? Are you a Liberal Democrat or not?

I'm not defending him. Please tell me where in any of my posts I have defended him or any of his policies.

I called you a prick to get a rise out of you and it obviously worked. Although calling a piece of work "garbage" without even having read it justifies someone calling you out on it.

No, I am not a Liberal Democrat. Yes, I consider myself more liberal than conservative but I will never identify myself as a Democrat because I like to form my own opinions of policies, not just automatically agree with one particular party. According to this very predictable quiz (http://blogthings.com/howliberalorconservativ... ) I was 55% liberal and 45% conservative. Not that that quiz is an accurate representation of me since it doesn't have any moderate options but I digress.

Reading his book doesn't make you a part of his "bandwagon". I would actually have more respect for you, as a conservative and someone who I will disagree with on a lot of issues, if you did read his book. Right now, to me, you're just another Fox News loving, Glen Beck-spouting close-minded conservative.

The bible says,(paraphrase)
If you raise up a child in the way he should go when he is old he will not depart from it.

If raised Muslim then he will most likely be a Muslim. We are in trouble.

That figures. He's coming to MSU to express a "thank you" for a bunch of ass kissers who promoted his book which obviously made his wallet a bit fatter. He has no true interest in the town itself. The funny part is that most Murrayians are getting moist in their undies because he may visit. The sad part is that IF he comes, Murray will continue to be a little, insignificant town that no one in the nation really cares about. Hell, Molly Sims couldn't even bring attention to Murray.

That's what everybody else does. When Mitch Albom's book "Tuesdays with Morrie" was the chosen book (2005) he wouldn't even come unless he was offered something like $50,000.(not entirely sure of the amount - but it was ridiculous)
