I like it, but it's too damn expensive, and I don't feel like losing my house and everything I own over some weed. I'll just have to wait til it's legal.

HAH!! As if, in the state of ignorance that is Georgia...

Seriously, isn't it about time it were legal. I haven't done any in over 20 years and don't plan to in the future. But every time you turn on the TV all you see is drug violence and gangsters getting rich. All that for something that makes you unambitious and stupid

Legalizing it here won't stop the violence in Mexico.

Pot smokers help the economy. Without them where are employers gonna find people to work minimum wage jobs? And if you got a used, worn out Camaro, you can sell it to a pot smoker. They love those cars.

If we grew it here and taxed it here it would. Just like prohibition in the 1930's.

Yeah, that worked out real well, didn't it. You can't legislate morality, no matter how hard anyone tries.

Pot only became illegal because Hearst was worried about hemp paper undermining his vast pulpwood holdings...

You think the cartels would be shut down just like that?

No, there's still a huge problem with other drugs coming across the border and from overseas. And if there is money to be made somebody will take the risk. But if marijuana were produced here, legally, and controlled you would assume the price would be a fraction of what it is now. There would be no reason to smuggle this drug.

My point exactly. Pot is illegal but people still do it with all the risks that are involved. Just like alcohol in the '30s, and some people are willing to risk life and freedom to get it here. I don't know why Hearst started reefer madness, but that makes sense.

Since we aren't going to legislate morality, I see no harm in legalizing opiates, in fact all drugs, prostitution, open pornography, public nudity and sex, etc.
I think the should bring back the "duel" also, I think that would be a great way to resolve conflict.

I will ponder the amazing possibilities, can you imagine the money you could make legally catering to the human weakness for vice and there would be nothing morally wrong with doing so.

Another great thing about legalizing it is that since it was legal, more people would use it and use it more often. Therefore the numbers of dull witted, lethargic people in this country would increase dramatically eliminating social and business competition for those who do not partake.
It's an interesting scenario, no doubt.

I most people do not realize the volume of marijuana that comes into this country annually. More than 100,000 tons and the supply doesn't even meet the demand. Maybe enough could be produced in the U.S to meet the demand. I really don't know.

I don't see it as legislating morality but I guess some would see it as defiling the body just like cigarettes.
