Sup guys im Dan Ficocello's son and ill tell you the real story. We hooked the shark at 9:00pm and my step dad fought it for 3 hours! Now if you no nothing about sharks hammerheads fight until they are dead. They need to swim to breath so when he was fighting it, it was already dieing. Then when we got on the beach we didn't know what kind of shark it was and when we did find out it was dead. There was no release what so ever unless you guys perfere it to be roleing around in the waves as a wast? So we keep it and for all you people that say we tried to boost are ego you are wrong. We called no one, the people at the pier told there friends and they told there friends. Thats how it got out and the news people came to us we didn't come to them. So the people that no nothing about what happened or wasn't there don't start gossip or rommers about us. Dan has let a lot of sharks go, including a mother shark that he got and let all the pups go free. The mother shark unforitly died but the pups where fine. That is not the only one ether. For those like are friends Tom and Grace we thank you for helping us tell are story how it should be and say hi to your son for us. Hammerheads are not on the prtected list. We looked and fishing game would of told us by now.

can anyone tell me what rod and reel and line he used to land this awesome shark. His reel is way bigger than mine, and the fact that the shark ran for 15 minutes before slowing down shows that when I hook into something this big, he'll take all my line. I need a bigger reel!

Matt Matt Thanks for putting the truth out there for all to see. Now can you please tell us what kind of rig he was using and especially what kind of bait. Over on the West Coast where we fish they are getting harder to catch. We don't waste them either we eat most of them it's actually pretty tasty.

I wait all year for the sharks to come close enough in big enough numbers to have the best fishin days possible although I don't go for the 500 lbers I've yet to kill a single one and a 100+ fights for well over 15 min. So weather those hammer heads would of made it I don't don't know. But all the other pictures of bulls and lemon and black tips strung up is b.s. your a redneck moron if you think that's OK. I could only wish that some of the lowlife dregs of society that my tax dollars go to supporting could face the same fate. How about someone posting about the the time wasted standing on line at the supermarket behind someone with an EBT card instead of a shark. The shark is the least of our problems. America has turned into a bunch of lazy pieces of $hit.
