Cutting back becomes way of life as U.S. economy worsens
LARRY BRINLEE/McClatchy-Tribune
Rusty Wade sits in his truck Friday in Cheyenne, Wyo. He shuts down his engine during stops and slows his speed on the road to save on fuel.
When long-haul trucker Rusty Wade pulled his rig into a Missouri truck stop, he noticed something strange.

I know the feeling, I am an owner-operator and believe me I will be sleeping with the windows down and fans on this summer. With the contract I got I can drive a little slower and cut corners on gas but come on, this is getting ridiculous. I just read on http://onlinetruckdrivingjobs.com that gas may hit $5.00 a gallon by Labor Day, Then what we're happy to pay $3.50 end of summer and the oil company's record all time high profits.
Can someone please change the channel because this show is getting old, we all know who controls the oil supply and demand cycle. As of right now I'm still proud to be an American:) |

just a comment, Europe is paying 6-10 dollars(converted from euros) per gallon (also converted from litres).verify for yourself.it is not just america going through this,it is most of the industrial world.all the blame should go the to the ones who actually purchase oil on the world market on the futures market.they are the ones who are creating the panic and are escalating the lie of low supply.however with that being said,do you hear any world leader offering any solutions.try this for a theory, they are trying to collapse the chinese industrial machine because they import all of their oil.just a theory anybody else.

The price of fuel in England has been 10$ a gallon for years,, Fuel is heavily TAXED not just for roads etc, but to provide revenue as it was classed as a LUXURY item.
My friends who are truckers in England have all stopped long haul and are working by the hour local, Cheap eastern European team driven trucks with HUGE fuel tanks are according to them sitting all over England in rest stops waiting for any load back towards the continent. Thier wage demands being lower by far they can sit in rest areas cookig thier own lunches etc. BTW my name is Rusty Wade for those who did not know! LOL PS China is developing two nation deals rto develope oilf ields in South American off the world market, They also have oil fields between China and the philipines, and new exploration os being conducted in Mongolia which may in fact have mre OIL than Saudi Arabia... So muc for that theory. INfrastructure that is what they need, and American companies are financing the development of the Chinese Industrial base. |

The consideration is not being made as to the US dollar to Canadian and the trucks have stopped moving. The fuel prices are killing us all in the grocery store, office employees, supporting our families and so on. I feel for the Canadians and other countries but we need to handle our problems at home before reaching out to other countries. When the US has all of us living without worrying of starving every day they can use it to reach out to other countries
