As David Morris from the Institute For Local Self-Reliance often points out, these farmer-owned ethanol plants are much better for the local economy than plants owned by big out-of-state corporations or Wall Street investors. Kudos also to AgStar for making this happen.

This is simply immoral and unethical to use food to make fuel when so many are going hungry. Food should be grown to benefit all, not to make profits for a greedy few.

Yes, it is unethical to use food to make ethanol. But not because of "profits" - it's because it takes more energy and resources to create the ethanol than it provides as a fuel. It's just pouring money down a hole. The so-called profits only come from government subsidies.

The asterisks in my previous post can be translated to "down the drain". It wasn't my first choice of words.

Do you realize that there is still an abundant supply of corn available after you subtract all of the corn used for ethanol? You don't as you don't have a clue as to what you're talking about. The only reason people are going hungry, in especially third-world countries, is due to warring factions and an un-reliable way to get food to everyone.

Clearly Mrs R hasn't researched the industry enough to know that the major byproduct of corn ethanol is DDG's which goes to feed additives which goes to feed stock which is, in fact, food.

The biggest reason we had ethanol isn't to save gas but to destroy our older cars quicker so we had to buy new ones. But as in most government plans this one failed also because the older cars are still running, hence we have "cash for clunkers". If anyone can explain a savings by using ethanol when most cars, vehicles, see a 4-5 mile per gallon drop in fuel efficienct, on top of the huge amounts of energy it takes to make ethanol, I will happily hear them out!!!

Dang right. That's the way it should be!
WE DO NOT NEED ETHANOL..

They "Tried"...
They "Failed"...

One would "Think" that the government would of figured it out "by now" that "Ethanol sucks".

Everything about ethanol sucks, it's NOT reducing "Carbon emissions" because:
1. If you figure the emissions it takes to produce the stuff...
2. If you figure the "SUBSIDIES" The government "gives" the farmers for the corn it takes "to make" ethanol...
3. The loss of "exported" corn to China and other countries...
4. Plus, the emissions the cars put out burning ethanol fuel...

WTF is wrong with this government ???
I mean George Bush Administration... they are the "fuckups" of this whole thing... "they" are the ones that started this messed up ethanol plants and all. Way to go "Republicans" LOL
Plus all the corn grown for fuel is sucking all the nutrients out of the ground... It won't be long and "That's all that will grow" on these lands will be "corn and beans" nothing else. Just keep sucking the nutrients out of the soil you idiots!
Now "They" can sit there like a bunch of pinheads and "blame" it onto Obama. WTF

Producing ethanol is like "Pouring water down a "Rat-Hole". LOL

But, that's what the "Bush administration" was "GOOD AT". "Remember When" Mr. George Bush "Admitted" that he knew nothing about economy and "He Proved It By This Ethanol Scam".
George Bush knew squat about anything... dang idiots. It's no wonder "why" lots of people hated that bastard!
