Cymbalta leads the way for Lilly

I am "withdrawing" from this drug currently after two years. So far I have vomited every single day for a soild week, have blurred vision, feel "shakey" inside, have a horrible tingeling in my hands and face, feel dizzy, spaced out, hypersentive to all light and sound etc ect ect. This is HORRIBLE; it feels as if I am coming off some awful posion. The drug is very successful in batteling depression but tring to stop the drug is nearly impossible. BE CAREFUL

hang in there. i felt awful and the medications seems to make my chronic pain worse. the message coasrds where people posted their experiences were very helpful. particularly because i learned tha the "zaps"--a sort of audio hallucination?, not sure what to call this strange symptom that feels like short electrical pulses, and an internal "sound" like a nanosecond buzz. MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAD STRANGE OR NEGATIVE REACTIONS TO THIS MEDICATION WHILE WITHDRAWING OR DURING TREATMENT,(however it seems many depressed patients & other have near miraculaous responses to Cymbalta) the docor allowed me to tapper to laower dose to stop, helped, but i stopped cold turkey on day 2 becasue I felt so disoriented physically and mentally-- things began to improve after a very dreadful week of withdrawal. Today, a month+ post discotinuation of treatment i still have "zapping" ocasionally. i pray it goes away. I will ask jesus, the God of all power who is healing me,( i DID recieve a miracle!) to heal you. Try praying if you can. If not see what happens when you speak into the wind, " Jesus, i don't believe in prayer, but if i may be wrong, show me, and help me to pray and believe. In love, a fellow sufferer, feels like my wings have been clipped because of chonic intractable pain.

Cybmbalta users can have and probably will have a severe side-effects from this drug. Also, the withdrawel side-effects are horrible. I know I've been trying since Dec 06 to get off of this and my doctor says I won't be off it completely until around May 07! This drug is not the wonder drug that Lily claims it to be. The good is outweighed by the bad on this one.

Cymbalta is a horrible medication. I am experiencing terrible withdrawal symptoms and have been trying to get off this drug since Nov 06. My doctor said it will probably be until May 07 that I can quit 100%. THE GOOD IS OUTWEIGHED BY THE BAD ON THIS DRUG. The FDA should not allow this drug to continue to be on the market.

I have been off this medication for about 2 weeks now. The withdrawls are HELL!!! I have constant nausea,horrible crying spells, quick to anger, dizziness, nightmares, "brain zaps", vomiting, and other GI problems. Not to mention the 30 lbs I have gained since being on this drug that will absolutely not go away. This drug is horrible!! I wouldnt recommmend it to my worst enemy. To anyone thinking about getting on it, DO YOUR RESEARCH!! I have found that St. Johns Wort helps with the mood swings, Green Tea helps with the Nausea (If your Dr. will only let you have so much Phenerghan) and, Omega 3 helps with the "brain zaps" and even some of the dizziness. Here we go again with Lilly putting out another lethal drug. Wonder how much they knew of these side effects, feeling suicidal, etc. before they stuck this one on the market.

Good luck with a lawsuit. Unless you are dead or permanently maimed Lilly's army of lawyers doesn't like to give out a dime. If you are dead or maimed, they swoop you up in a big settlement and give you or your family (if you died) two dimes.

Has anyone heard of a large, individual settlement yet for Zyprexa? The hope here is that there will be a few individual court cases where the truth (which we all know) plus the facts of a person's death will be out in the open. Hopefully then the sad details of these deaths will be made public because there will be no "gag order". The gags are how Lilly controls their market share and keeps doctors continuing to give out the poisons.

Good luck getting off Cymbalta and beware of any SSRI drugs.

They knew plenty. One of the teens in the trials comitted suicide. Of course in their infinite wisdom they said there was no connection. Drugging yourselves because of all the labels these so called experts come up with is not the answer.A lot of the violent acts you read about that make no sense are because of these kinds of drugs.

I becmae addicted to hydrocodne over twenty years ago. What the doctors don't tell you when giving these drugs is just how deadly they can be when abused. If taken over a long period of time they can shut you vital organs down. Kidnes,liver,heart,lungs. I use to think getting high was ok until I became an addict. Addiction consumes every waking hour of the day. Addiction controls your life and eventually addiction WILL KILL YOU! Stop NOW!

After reading everyones post on cymbalta I believe I will stop using it immediately. I will not fall victim to another drug. I repeadly ask my doctors if the feelings of body rushes and high anxiety could be from the cymbalta he said know that I hadn't been on it long enough. That was the first wek has anyone else experienced thisalong with unusual tremors this is my third week

Cymbalta is the worst! I had no idea it was going to be like this when I stopped taking the drug. I weaned off of it and have not had a pill in 7 days! I am still miserable. At first it was body aches, dizziness, now it is that with nausea, very irritable, so tired and I was up all night with direaha!!! I don't know how long I can stand this!!

I was only on Cymbalta for 2 months--the side effects I had while on it were constipation, dry mouth and could not sleep. I did not feel like the medicine made me feel any different, so that is why I quit taking it. I would not recommend this medicine at all, just because of how I feel in coming off of it!! Good luck

A fellow down here in Orlando is on trial because he beheaded his wife, then chopped up his son. All the people who know this man say he loved his family, and they don't understand how this could have happened. He was being treated for depression. They never said what drugs. The people here all say we should execute him. NORMAL people who become psychotic are increasing in numbers due to these drugs they're pushing on everyone.Normal people don't behead their wife and chase down their 11 child and slice them up. I'm sure there is nothing more horrible we can do to this fellow, than let him read a news clipping of what he did
while he's not on the mind altering drugs.

I was on Cymbalta 60mg for 2 years. I tapered down over the past 3 months to 20mg and have now been "off" Cymbalta for 5 days. I had post-partum depression with my last child and this was the only drug that worked for me. Not only did it work, it was a Godsend to me. I was suicidal, homocidal, and an all around disaster! This was my first bout of depression and I was very scared. Cymbalta changed my world. I was my old happy self again. Still, the time was inevitable when I would need to go off the medication. I vowed to myself that I would rather be on Cymbalta my whole life then go back to that horrible place I was before going on the medication. The tapering down was a good thing for me rather than going off cold-turkey. With each step down I would feel a bit of side effects for a day or two and then I would adjust. I stayed on the 20mgs a little longer so I could be sure that I had really adjusted to a lower dose before going off. Five days later, I am experiencing constant face zaps (with an audible static-y sound), dizziness, racing heart, strange dreams, and hot flashes. I hope these go away soon, or at least minimize soon! I am struggling with the withdrawl symptoms a lot, but I would never go back. I even gained 90 pounds while on the medication and I am still glad I did it! I admit that I pushed to go off the drug as the weight gain was getting to be a bit much. In the last 5 days I have lost 6 pounds. I hope things will get better but I am not a dissatisfied customer!

I have been on cymbalta 30mg for 1 year, but the depression is still there. I have no drive or motivation or energy, so I have been going to 60, for the past few days, now I feel worse.

I have been tapering off of Cymbalta with absolutely NO SIDE EFFECTS at all! I was taking 60mg daily. I have decreased it by approx. 12 mg a week, and am currently at approx. 24 mg. I have two weeks more to go before I am completely off this drug. In addition, I have greatly increased my veg/fruit/whole grains and added 1 tsp. lemon flavored Omega 3 fish oil to my diet, three times a day (2400 mg. EPA). I also walk as many times a week as I can - weather permitting. I take take a few daily supplements, as well.

I had a FNP just drop me cold turkey with absolutely no weaning, as I found cymbalta to not help my pain for fibromyalgia and made my depression worse. I felt very flat affect as if nothing mattered and did not care about anything, not to mention gaining weight. I just went off of it last Thurs. April 5th 2007 and have had horrible withdrawal side-effects such as extreme anger outburst, little things irritate me, extreme anxiety, appetite increasing coming off medicine, I actually was having, I guess you would call it brain zaps, its like a bean bag with the beans rattling in your head making that crazy zapping sound. I am a professional and work with mental illness/substance abuse and this has shed a new light on my empathy for those I work with as far as monitoring people more closely as this is a horrible medicine to come off of cold-turkey. I feel that only psychiatry should be able to prescribe psychotrophic medications and that this one should be taken off the market. It is a very debilitating drug that I would like to call "Sleeping Beauty-toxin" it makes you sleep and it makes you more tired, which is why people get on an antidepressant to stop the depression. It works short-term, but I would not recommend for long-term usage and weaning off of it is best maybe even with something else to keep your nerves and anger in check. Pharmaceutical companies are trying to push doctors to sell these medicines. My advise to all would be to do the research, I think all of these antidepressants, etc.. make you worse in the end, go out and find your happy and exercise more so that cymbalta will not take your life, b/c I felt horrible coming off of this medicine and had memory problems on it, and sweating, gaining weight, it will make you so you can't sleep at night (Insomnia). They should call it Sleepbalta, Suicidebalta, Crazybalta, because this drug is absolute poison and should be stripped from the market!! Be cautious.
